When exaclty was Johnny Ramone Diagnoised with Cancer?

The articles that say he is diagnosed with cancer from June 2004 say he's had it for 4 years, yet the articles that came out when he died in September say he was battling it for 5 years.

Anyone know for sure?
I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened.

    He was diagnosed in 1995 and died in 2001. Check wikipedia (not necessarily the most reliable source, but there are links to several articles there).
