is this whole "tweet" business really necessary?

i mean.. what's the point? why not just announce news when you're ready without driving us all into a tizzy for 2 days? 800+ people could have been a lot more productive today..

why the need to tease us?

it's just a minor frustration, which will completely vanish the second the news does actually get posted, but still..

I could be doing much more productive things with my time.

I think I would much rather it be a surprise, or have them tell us (approximately) what time the announcement will be.

    I think that's why they said "mid-week"...

    Membership renewals and new members.

If they were to say american tour then the people across the pond may not renew or sign up.

    Just my thought.

    Chill out.
Some people actually like to have a bit of fun once in awhile, and that's all they're doing.

Because it's fun! I don't know about anyone else but this is all part of the experience/ritual of Pearl Jam news. Any other way just doesn't feel right / exciting / extremely disappointing when it's not what you want. ;)

    eh.. i guess.

i think it worked just fine in the old days when we'd get a surprise email with the newest RUMOR PIT in it.

a pleasant surprise like that > wasting a ton of time refreshing this stupid site every 30 seconds for something we may not even get today.

but hey.. like i said, it will all be water under the bridge soon. and yes, it is of course exciting to know that something substantial is in the works.

I can't think of any other business that communicates with it's customers through cryptic messages from birds. I have told other people about the whole" birdy" system and they laughed their asses off. I personally think it's stupid and unprofessional but I have no control over it. I'm sure the whole 10 Club staff gets a kick out of waching people here freak out and speculate for days.

nothing wrong with building some buzz. the only people that give a fuck are 10 clubbers. you dont have to be the 1st person to know.

I agree with you. I'm just as frustrated as you are, but 10c did mention sometime mid-week, so it wasn't like we were all clueless. We just assumed it would be 12 noon EST, and it wasn't.

  • yes the tweet is necessary...for the band and 10c.

there is nearly 1000 viewing the message pit alone. when else do we see a surge like this? when big news is expected thanks to our little birdy.

right now pearljam.com is getting thousands of hits right now from fans/pit members that know news is expected 'mid week'. merch sales are up, 10c memberships purchased, music selling, posters!! the works. its a big business day at 10c right now.

as for this tweet...its tough to get your opinion in the other post..

I personally think that the tweet is that the Edide Vedder April Fools tour is actually, a Pearl Jam acoustic tour featuring Into The Wild, Pearl Jam favorites, and some nice covers.

    but who knows....

if there were no announcement, then people would freak out because they didn't know something was coming...people will be pissed no matter what.

I think it's a good idea to cause a little buzz...no one's making anyone sit here and wait, so don't complain.

  • Wow, people are actually debating Pearl Jam's fan club's method of communicating with its community...

I really love Pearl Jam's music and they seem like they're a really nice bunch of guys, but do they ever have a bunch of mental patients for fans!!!
  • They like fucking with us and get a good chuckle out of watching everyone freak out. Honestly....I'd do the same thing if I was in their position. :)

fuck it, ill say it. at times it can be a pain in the backside.

i just get the feeling that the band would not be all that crazy about it sometimes.

but hey, like ya all said, nobody is holding a gun to our head to be here.

i guess i used to think the tweets were cute and fun. not so much anymore.

but im not bitching. no worries.
