I ran across 2 shows from 1970 last night, was wondering if anyone else has some good recordings. If there is any kind of positive response to this I will post the few shows that I have at this point.

Thanks, I have to wait for a few hours because I have downloaded the limit on Rapidshare, but I definately found one more that looks really good.
Both in shorten.
Jimi practising in his apartment sometime in 1968
Soundboard from Royal Albert Hall in London from February 1969
dcne200, what format are the shows you've got?
You should definitely upload them both (lossless if possible please ).
Thanks a lot for those! I don't exactly remember how to use flacs. what program do I need to open those files? The shows I have are all mp3s. 2 of them (one was filmore east, the other somewhere in europe) are 320kbps, then the link above has a show that I guess has Jim Morrison and Budy Holly or someone, haven't listened to it but that show looks like 192.
still can't figure out these files. I have them all downloaded, but I can't put them in itunes. I downloaded something called db poweramp to try and get these files, but it won't do anything. I am on my way to a meeting now but any help would be greatly appreciated, and then either later tonight or in the morning I will upload the shows I have. Thanks.
Try these sites, for starters:

http://www.tapecity.org/

There's always dimeadozen, too.
You could register here, too, for info on Jimi material:

There's a trading newsgroup called Jimi Pass It On, on Yahoo, too.
iTunes won't do the job.
Download JetAudio basic. It's free and will play your FLAC files. No extra plugins/FLAC Frontend stuff required.

It's spyware free, not too bulky, and it plays lots of formats. It converts a lot of formats too.
As for dbpoweramp, try uninstalling the version you have completely, then read this thoroughly:
http://www.icemelon.com/tutorials/22/Convert_SHN_and_FLAC_files_to_MP3.htm
You can get a shn plug-in for winamp to play them.
Use MKW to extract the shn files to wav for cd burning.
Further info is available here or on wikipedia.
