Who else here things that this girl is a little undeserving of the praise she gets?

I think she's absolutely laughable. It's unfortunate. She has a good voice but chooses to use it in a way that is so offputting.

    I enjoyed her on the Stroke's b-sides, but it took me a few years to finally listen to some of her solo work. I've got to say, I really enjoy it. "Begin To Hope" is a pretty good album, it is dreadfully boring for a few songs, but the majority of the stuff on there is really good.

    I didn't realize she got that much praise in the first place, but from what I've heard, I would say she deserves it.

    I've only heard Begin to Hope, but I quite enjoy it. As a young woman roughly Regina's age I appreciate that she's receiving a certain amount of attention for her MUSIC. I'm not convinced that she's quite so quirky or inventive as some of the press I've read suggests, but she is interesting and promising if nothing else.

    Oh, and I don't find her vocal style off-putting, but I've spent years listening to Tori Amos, so maybe I'm just used to a little . . . weirdness.

    I like her. Her older stuff "Soviet Kitch" is great but Im 50/50 on the new stuff.

    Yeah, her song with the strokes "Old fashion....." is amazing.

    I really like her, but I was dissapointed with the new album. It has a few good songs, but her older stuff is much better.

    If you don't like her vocal style, then it's your loss really. ;)

    I quite like her...she's like a slightly happier Fiona Apple.

    And I really like when she sings in Russian :)

    I think she deserves it. Love her and will be going to see her next month in Portland and again this summer at Bonnaroo.

    I've seen her live a couple of times because I know someone involved with her label. The industry knock on her is she tends to get very uncomfortable performing live in front of a camera, but in front of a crowd in a club or theater it's another thing entirely. She makes a great connection with an audience... and the "ha ha ha heart" stuff which can be annoying on record comes off very naturally in concert. Hard to explain, but she's kind of a geek and just being herself. I guess if you don't like who she is that may not be enough... but it is still something to kind of respect in an age of media clone singers. She's genuinely quirky and off kilter.
