Anyone ever hear anything by Black Mountain? I was reading about them in the latest Rolling Stone and they sound interesting. Of course the reviews from RS can be way off sometimes.

Black Mountain are one of my favorite bands to come out of the 21st century.

one of the more awesome band names out there

Someone recommended it to me in a different thread, sampled some iTunes and liked them. I also read the 2 articles in the RS I got today and I am now more intrigued, they sound pretty interesting. The new album doesn't come out for a few more weeks I think, but you can download Tyrant from the website. I will be picking up a full album soon.

i own their first album... is it their only album?

man the entire album is great.... like an indie rock band meets black sabbath/the doors. really awesome. my favorite is Faulty Times

There's a sbd/aud matrix recording on Dime. I'm listening to it right now, and these guys are kicking ass. They have an EP and an album out right now. A new album drops on the 22nd though. Two versions, the deluxe has some extra tunes on it. Gonna add that to my shopping list for that week.

I just downloaded both of their albums... I don't know were to start though

BTW... you can get the full second album off of torrents...

Really liking these guys. The atmospheric vocals are great. Gives them a bit of a goth feel at times, but in a good way. The Sabbath meets post-Syd/pre-Wall era Floyd sound is cool too.

The Druganaut EP is a must have, just for the extended version of Druganaut. The album version is too short.

Speaking of the longer tunes, they shift tempos and musical themes to keep the songs from dragging. Good stuff all around.

I wanted to but couldn't go. I'm really liking "In the Future". Very cool and trippy music.

Yeah I saw them last night .......looked like they were coming out of a time warp from 1975 .......kind of reminds me of Wolfmother with the retro feel to their music. Have you seen them before?

I had also read the stuff on them in RS, but being a longtime subscriber and having been burned by their rave reviews several times before I was hesitant to take their word. But I actually picked the up the album yesterday before setting out on workrelated road trip and I love it. The trippy stuff usually isn't my bag but they pull it off well in my opinion. The 17-minute one, Bright Lights, is awesome.

So, I got in from my trip around 11:30 central time last night and flipped over to watch conan, saw they were on and stayed up to watch. They do look like they just stepped out of a time machine...the chick is a chunkier version of Grace Slick!

Anyway, its good stuff I say, so check 'em out

Saw them in Bristol last night, truly excellent band. Unusual to hear a sound like that recreated in a live setting, just superb I thought. Totally trippy at times.

I'm with you, they finished in Bristol with Bright Lights, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I swear I nearly fell asleep. Other than that song they were really infectious, such an excellent fuzzy sound they made, the keyboard player was essential to the overall sound, well I suppose they all were. Top band, apart from....that one ;)
Here's a couple of shots of the Bristol gig.

This was a tiny venue and you could hear all these people yelling out for Bright Lights, I was thinking "wtf is wrong with you?" :) It started up and I leaned back on this post, then I thought "better put this beer down before you drop it matey"...I swear I was in a semi-trance kinda sleep by the end of it, still standing, it had been an awfully long day mind :o:)
They're headlining one night of a festival near my home, in August, I'm looking forward to seeing them again.
