the boys should not play it live again until they lock jeff in a room, strapped down clockwork orange style, with a copy of SVT playing so he can learn to get the harmonies right.

then, and only then, should they play this gem live again.
i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam

Its a good thing they got matt, cause he is the only one that can sing backup properly.

I'd argue Stone can, but only on certain songs, because of his... distinctive voice.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

best thread ever was the one titled "Jeff is the new Linda Mccartney"

Keep him away from "unemployable" as well..

They always seem to struggle with Lowlight..I think that time signature change always throws 'em...Love the song though, and I live for the few versions I've heard 'em nail it.

  • maybe he's just trying to get back at them for always turning him wayyyyyyy the hell down during the shows

    :)
  • When I listen to the Gorge version, it sounds like an off-key chic is on background vocals...is that really Jeff??? I wasn't at the show and always thought that they had a female guest singing on that tune. Anyways, I still love the song & that particular performance.

I cannot listen to this song live...the backing vocals have always been a disaster.

I could live with this one being retired. The nice studio version is enough for me...

I love Low Light live, but agree Jeff is terrible on the backup vocals for this song.

I'm quite surprised by this thread, I absolutly love the song, and the backing vocals never bothered me. I think they're particularly good on DC 06. The only problem I ever had with the live version is Matt's cop-out on the big fill towards the end.(he builds it up instead of popping the tom combo)
"Stunned by my own reflection, It's looking back, sees me too clearly and I swore I'd never go there again, Not unlike a friend that politely drags you down, down, down"

he gets it right on SVT, with a little coaching from eddie. i see no reason why they can't get it right..

..or maybe mike can "accidentally" trip on jeff's mic cord and unplug it the next time they play it.

It's more intense, you know. I find myself sweating more, when I'm playing, even though it's 60 degrees in the room....

    FAITHFULL..

This song once made a beautiful girl fall in love with me.... Oh man, so many memories coming back tonight..

I agree, the Boston '06 version would have been amazing. Ed gives an absolutely great vocal performance. But I can't listen to it without concentrating on Jeff whose mic is way to loud

    BEAUTIFUL!!!

Finding fault with JEFF AMENT...how little we know of the world...and how much spare time do we have on our hands. You should all be stripped of all your PJ sounds and have them replaced with the brilliant harmonies of John Ashcroft -- I understand he's a fantastic yodeler as well, especially if someone whispers "gun control" in his ear right before he goes onstage....

I agree. I like the studio version better - it doesn't translate well live - from Jeff's backing vocals and even Ed's harmony on it. One of my favorites but I think it needs some practice. I have heard some live versions better than others.
