Hey some of you guys might like this ... been following newton for a while now and he has gathered a good size following on MYSPACE ... but is starting to break big in the UK, just released his first album which entered at No.3. this week, and his single 'dream catch me' has gone to Number 7.
He's a Pearl Jam fan so must be OK by most of us.
He has a really cool way of playing, (OK ... many people are saying unique and original ... but having seen plenty guitarists have seen much it before ... but he is still excellent) simply and acoustic guitar and beats out all the percussive rhythms on it whilst he strums, picks, slaps and taps his way over the fret board to create something amazing.
He has an amazing on stage presence ... really laid back, very engaging, witty, and humourous, often enaging in idle chat and banter about nothing in particular with his audience ... at a recent gig I saw he entered into a debate about what tour merchandise he should have ... and decided that slippers and a smoking jacket would be quite fun. He also didn't enter into the fake encore bit ... just said that he was now going to do the traditional encore bit and proceeded to hide in the corner of the stage in a mocking way before leaping back in mock surprise at the call back ... Love people who don't take themselves too seriously and enter into all the bull that often goes on.
Anyway check him out ... you will be surprised amazed and delighted ... ok it's not rockin but it's still great music.
Check these out and spead the word ... he deserves to be massive and a dream gig with Eddie must happen ... it would be outstanding.
