Sorry if everyone's bored talking about 'Seattle' and 'Grunge'. But I was just thinking to myself, who've been the big players in the scene? Biggest influence?
Names off the top of my head:
Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mark Arm, Steve Turner, Andrew Wood, Matt Cameron, Chris Cornell, Bruce Pavitt, Jack Endino....

I know I'm missing some important people out, just thought I'd get the ball rolling.

1,Vs 2,Vitalogy 3,No Code 4,Yield 5,Ten 6,Backspacer, 7Pearl Jam 8,Binaural 9,Riot Act.

  • Blind Melon and Smashing Pumpkins weren't grunge bands but they were certainly two of the best bands of the era (personally, Smashing Pumpkins even beat out Pearl Jam for me).

the Sub Pop guys - Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman
    Jack Endino
anyone of the big 4 (PJ, Nirvana, Soundgarden, AIC)
    Mudhoney, specifically Arm and Turner
    Lanegan and the Screaming Trees

I guess that Buzz Ozbourne and The Melvins fall more under influences, but I would consider them important in the scene.

Kurt Cobain. I think he pretty much epitomized grunge, if you want to call it grunge. Then of course Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell and Layne Stately but they had nowhere near as much impact as Kurt Cobain, IMO.
