Solo Artist Vs Bands

Just been thinking recently about the albums that many consider to be the best & most influential of all time, and the same artists & bands crop up time & again, e.g. :
Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Clash, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye etc, etc...

It just occurred to me that solo artist put up a pretty strong showing. Wondered what everyone thought of the pros & cons of being solo or in a band...? Maybe I've got to much time on my hands...!

    Solo artists have a band behind them too... the only difference is that the band isn't named.

    Suppose you've got a point. E-Street Band, Crazy Horse etc.
