Questions about Camden

Wondering if anyone could answer a few q's for me. Sorry for the length

The only shows I've ever been to in Camden have been weekend shows (friday/saturday) The crowds in the parking lot were pretty rowdy, especially after the show (smashing beer bottles all over the ground, throwing things at cars, and some guy even crawled onto the hood of my car while I was sitting in it.)

Are the crowds usually more mellow/less insane for weeknight shows?
Frankly I don't usually give a damn but I'll have work the next day and would rather not deal with shit after the concert when I have to get home. My alternatives would be NOT go to the concert or take the Ferry.

Follow up: If I do take the Ferry, how is it after the show? Long wait? Do they continue to run it as long as people are standing and waiting to get on it or do they run it until a certain time and bone everyone over who is still waiting?

Much appreciated for any replies

I went to the 2006 shows. As far as I know, they run the ferry as long as there are people there. It took a long time though. I left the shows after the last song was done and the line at the ferry was already huge.

This is one reason I won't be back to Philly when PJ plays Camden. Not because of Philly but just because of the venue.

HAHAHA! Welcome to Philly/Jersey!!! The crowds there can be insane and usually are pretty rowdy, no matter what night of the week it is! The ferry I believe does cut off at a certain time. Line or no line..I'll look into it more but I remember having to rush out after the last song in order to get far ahead enough in the line so we didnt MISS the ferry...like I said, I'm not positive. I'll try to look into it more for you and get back to you...

I will say one thing about the Camden parking lot scene. I can't speak for what happened after the show but before the show, my wife and I and a couple of others were walking through the parking lot and some dude is bar-b-queing some burgers and stuff and just out of the blue offers some up. We ended up talking for a long time. Pretty cool I thought.

But I hated that ferry ride and rush to find a taxi once on the Philly side of the river.

Park 5 minutes away in Westmont or Haddonfield and take the PATCO Speedline.

I loved when they broke into that impromptu version of RITFW when the fireworks started popping over Camden/Philly! That was magical!

I've been there once before for a show, and I took the ferry. It was cool. Getting back afterwards took kinda long, but it was a hell of a lot better than dealing with parking traffic.

I agree with the speedline option, I did it for the last shows and it worked out great. It's about a 10 minute walk from the speedline to the venue and lots of people do it.

I have been going to shows at this venue since it opened. The Camden police force do an excellent job in maintaining the safety of the concert goers. You're always going to get a drunk asshole who is willing to throw bottles, run around like a madman and just make a complete ass of himself.

and you can find that drunk asshole in any city, USA.

Anything can and will happen. It's always a mess leaving Junkies all over after food and beer. As far as the ferry it runs for an hour after the show and that's it. I didn't like the ferry. I suggest if you want to get out early get to camden early and get a parking spot so you get to your car while every body is still in the venue. Goodluck I'm going to DC because of the bullshit in Camden and I live near Reading Pa. Later Yostarama

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I think at this point I'll just be heading to the DC show. If they happen to add a second Camden show on that Friday I'll consider going and try the PATCO speedline as some suggested... As long as I don't have work the next day I can handle the headache after the show.

Good luck to everyone trying for tickets this week!

The only time I took the ferry I cut the line so I don't know how long it takes. But the parking lot is nuts after the concert. Last time PJ played me and my friends had two yellow busses full of our friends so we just stayed in the parking lot for like 2 more hours after the show drinking and lighting fireworks.
