You gotta be kidding me. . .

We have a new Arena opening this fall in Kansas City, and the first act in the new building is going to be Elton fucking John. They were teasing us with this big announcement which got me thinking Rolling Stones, U2, Police. . . something, anything besides Elton John. But on the bright side with a brand new shiny arena PJ is for sure going to be there, right?

Here's to PJ being the first concert I go to at the Sprint Center.

Pretty sure Elton John is a big name and not a bad choice at all to open it up.

some people just do not appreciate the likes of one Sir Elton John ... sorry dude but it is pretty hard to get much bigger than him. earlier this year they made a big thing in NYC about him playing his 60th show at MSG ... if the mecca can host him 60 times, i think KC should feel lucky.

here in the NY metro area, the Rock (Prudential Center in Newark) is opening with 10 shows of jovi.
I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either.
  • Yeah, I know he is a big name and a big act. . . I was just frustrated because it wasn't something that excited me. I know its not all about ME; I know that it will be a huge event and lots of people from all over will be in attendance, and I hope they have a great experience. I just wished it was something that I felt as excited about as others probably are.

Just had to get my own frustration out!

I went to see Sir Elton in '98 and he was awesome! Especially his older stuff (Grey Seal, Levon, Honky Cat, Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters, Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, Your Song - to name a few, what a great show!) And I would love to see him do some stuff off of Songs from the West Coast, Peachtree Road, and The Captain and The Kid (an incredible album, by the way). I grew up on Elton's early 70's stuff with Madman Across the Water being my favorite album of all time. He might not be your cup of tea, but it's hard to argue with the significance of his career.

Wow! A surprising number of Elton John fans here. I myself have one of his tapes (yes tapes). But it's been a while since I listened to it

Elton John blows, in more than one way.
  • Elton John has some of the biggest hits of all-time. He puts on a hell of a concert, too.

You know I'd actually go see Elton John in KC but I'm sure the tix are going to be $100+ which is way out of my budget range....

Elton John is a very talented person and had written really good music. He was one of the first acts I listened to when I was a kid. I've moved on to mostly harder stuff at this point, but he would be a huge draw and pull in people from at least 3 generations - I'd think he would be a good choice to get a wide variety of people into a new venue.

    Elton John isn't that bad.
It could be worse,it could have been Gwen Stephani,or Fergie,or some kind of tour that includes 30 seconds to Mars,All American Rejects,The Fray or some other bullshit bands like that.
Eltons not to shabby and he will sell that place out.

    That kinda sucks...

But what's good for me is that KC didn't get my Penguins, even after everyone said they would.

now that is painful! i'm no Elton John fan, but i'd rather sit through him 60 times than bon jovi once.
