Chris Cornell is the Yngwie Malmsteen of vocalists for me. He's technically excellent but he lacks the soul of an Eddie Vedder or Axl Rose.

Did you just say that Axl Rose has soul?

    That one always impressed me.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

Haha, that's exactly what I thought when I read that comment.

the best part of that song was not the scream, it was the very end where he says "thank you, goodnight!" in a sarcastic cheerful way. i cracked up

I thought the same thing, especially in the tone he used. I was thinking, where did that come from? :) Awesome and Nice scream too.

    Peace

  • It doesn't get better than Chris Cornell on Slaves and Bulldozers.

I don't think there's any debate. Roger Daltry's scream at 7:44 of "Won't Get Fooled Aagain" is the best scream in rock n roll. Ever.

    Best Cornell Screams:

    OLD: Slaves and Bulldozers

    RECENT: Shadow on the Sun

The last few seconds of Shadow on the Sun just always do it for me. That whole song does, but most notably the last few screams he just belts out at the end of the the song. Cornell definately has/had the best scream in Rock n' Roll.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

That scream on Shadow of the Sun sounds weird. Did they add some kind of filter in the studio to his voice? Either way, it's a great scream that nevertheless sounds terrible when he does it live :p
