Here's a funny thing...I had this album since the day it came out, fucking fantastic. My nephew got interested in rock music about 4 or 5 years back, then got into Audioslave, so uncle had to teach him the history...and he borrowed my copy, went to university, and I never saw the bugger again (the cd that is). Just yesterday I saw it in the HMV sale...snapped up the replacement, and been playing it ever since..right now in fact, and then saw this thread..shit!!
I even saw them on this tour....amazing.

Will it pay you more to walk on water.....than to wear a crown of thorns...?
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....
  • ALWAYS in my Top TEN albums of all time.

    Sometimes in my top 5.

Certainly one of Soundgarden's BEST albums!!!

"Rusty Cage," "Outshined," "Slaves & Bulldozers," and "Jesus Christ Pose" are 4 of the greatest album openers in the history of album openers.

always though Mind Riot was underappreciated.

"I'm luck's last match struck in the pouring down wind"
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

Drawing Flies, Face Pollution, New Damage, Holy Water, Mind Riot, Searching w/ My Good Eye Closed, are just so awesome. We all know about the singles, but those tracks don't get enough appreciation.

    just listened to this

One of the best albums ever.. just incredible..

New Damage, really shows cornell's voice - i rekcon its one of the best tracks!

dont get why no one talks about new damage or holy water!
  • Badmotorfinger is brilliant! Sounds great, I just can't switch it off whenever I put it on... Everyone talks about Superunknown but while it has plenty of the hits (and I do love Superunknown too) it lacks the supreme consistency and flow of Badmotorfinger.

    Amazing.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
  • This album owns Superunknown.
  • Painted blue across my eyes
    And tie the linen on
    And I'm on my way
    Looking for the paradigm
So I can pass it off
    Is it on my side
    Is it to the sky
Looking to the sky and down
    Searching for a ground
    With my good eye closed
If I took you for a ride
    Would you take it wrong
Or would you make it right
    Looking for a pedestal
That I can put you on
    And be on my way
    Is it to the sky
Looking to the sky and down
    Searching for a ground
    With my good eye closed
Stop you're trying to bruise my mind
I can do it on my own
Stop you're trying to kill my time
It's been my death since I was born
I don't remember half the time
If I'm hiding or I'm lost
    But I'm on my way
bombs, dropping down, please forgive our hometown
  • I just got in to soundgarden about a year ago, and i got badmotorfinger and superunknown at the same time, so i have no bias when i say that badmotorfinger is better than superunknown.

    badmotorfinger is a classic
  • Face pollution
    Face pollution
    Face pollution
    Face pollution

I love the bit with that really long snare roll. Aaaaaahhhhh.

    Is it to the sky
Looking to the sky and down

    Man, I love this song.^^
  • shoulda been called Badmotherfucker, cuz that's what it is... one Bad Mother Fucker. I love it!!

Nice! Now that you mention it I'm fairly sure that the lip movements required to say Badmotorfinger are the same as those for Bad Mother Fucker.

Just like on tv before the watershed, if someone says "motherfucker" they dub it with "melon farmer".

I reckon Badmotorfinger really was meant to be the Bad Mother Fucker, deadly! :D

Chris Cornell is a god. He is the best person ever. Eddie Vedder has nothing on him. This is one of the best albums as well.

  • This record and Superunknown are so fucking amazing.

I love them both, but I think Superunknown edges this one out just a bit.

I still listen to these records so much after all these years... Way more than I do PJ, actually.
  • He is the best person ever.

He used to be one of the best people ever.

Now he's kind of a cheeseball. It makes me sad. :(
  • The real question is:

    What about
    SATANOSCILATEMYMETALICSONATAS

    ???

Do I detect some sarcasm here? No need to be jealous !

I love the saxaphone at the end of Room A Thousand Years Wide. It's like, "fuck it, let's just throw a sax solo in there." Coupled with Cornell's screaming and the guitar, it's the greatest end to a song ever.

I always preferred Soundgardens 'softer' side though, so I tend to opt for Superunknown or DOTU instead. But Badmotorfinger is still an absoulte masterpiece. I don't think they've ever put out a bad album, which is something that, IMO, Pearl Jam can't even claim.

YES! Without a doubt. This one is better. IMO. It's almost as good as Down On The Upside.

'Drawing Flies' is the best song ever! :)

The first three songs on BMF are absolutely badass.... Slaves and Bulldozers is one of my all time favorite songs. But the rest of them are hit and miss, imo.... I'll take either Superunknown or DOTU over BMF anyday. I just feel like they much more substance to them.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win
