So what do you think?

I think it kind of stinks. The verses with piano and strings are pretty good but everything else is so...schizoprhenic. I was hoping they'd go back to the 'vintage' Bond sounds - this isn't as bad as Die Another Day but I thought You Know My Name was a step in the right direction.

Not keen on the vocals either. Say what you want about Amy Winehouse, but I wish her version would have materialized. Her voice is amazing and really suits James Bond, IMO.

  • It's all over the place, but I kinda like it.
“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

yah... is this seriously the final cut? its jumpy as hell... it definitely has that james bond feel to it though... cant wait to see it against some trippy opening sequence visuals :D

  • There's something totally off about the song. I really thought it would be a cool and interesting combination when it was first mentioned, but eck. Their voices do not go well together. His voice isn't, I dunno, maybe 'manly' enough to contrast hers.
And it does really seem all over the place. I do like the piano bit though during the verses.

I'm thinking maybe if Jack did it alone it would have been better? But then again, I'm not so sure. I liked the direction they were taking with Cornell too(even if you didn't like the song), I think they should have gotten someone with a harsher voice. I don't feel like Jack White fits the Bond theme. A hard rock band would be a cool choice for this new bond direction...
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Um... Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." -Michael Scott
  • I like it, good pairing of the two distinct talents. Considering what we've had from Madonna, Chris Cornell and Sheryl Crow of late when it comes to Bond themes, it easilly takes the cake.
  • I like it as a song, I'm not sure how much I like it as a Bond theme.

Chris Cornell's was the best for quite a while, Madonna's was the worst ever.

Not been a fan of the White Stripes, I can't even tell if it's Jack or Alicia singing.

Heard this once and my first thought was that it was in fact a bit of a mess.

I still think Garbage did the best Bond song of the past 15 years.
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
