Beavis : Is this Pearl Jam?
Butt-head: This guy makes faces like Eddie Vedder.
Beavis: No, Eddie Vedder makes faces like this guy.
Butt-head: I heard these guys, like, came first and Pearl Jam ripped them off.
Beavis: No, Pearl Jam came first.
Butt-head: Well, they both suck.

At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command
Those are rated the best. And I agree with that, both albums are great.
That's my favorite anyways...the one mentioned above is probably the most popular.
atdi - in/casino/out
("Relationsship" is great and actually got me into this band, but I like more the raw sound of that album)
Mars Volta - Frances the mute
(it's one big monster...if you are the one with the patience to listen to a whole concept of appr. 80 minutes, this is the one for you)

“It is curious that while good people go to great lengths to spare their children from suffering, few of them seem to notice that the one (and only) guaranteed way to prevent all the suffering of their children is not to bring those children into existence in the first place.”

Relationship of Command by At The Drive In is a good bet.
The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium
At The Drive-In - Relationship Of Command
BUT, if you're feeling braver, I would definitely go for:
The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute (for L'Via L'Viaquez alone...that riff gets me every time...and it must be played LOUD
At The Drive-In - In\Casino\Out OR Acrobatic Tenement (Both albums are a lot more raw than relationship, especially Acrobatic Tenement).
I don't wanna think, I wanna feel
Dublin 23/08/06 Lisbon I 04/09/06 Lisbon II 05/09/06 Paris 11/09/06 Verona 16/09/06
London 18/06/07 Dusseldorf 21/06/07 Copenhagen 26/06/07 Nijmegen 28/06/07
ATDI - El Gran Orgo
easily their best.
Mars Volta - i would go on a limb and say Amphecture, if you dig concept albums and have the patience to muddle through a lot of wierd shit especially at the end go for Frances the Mute, the widow is quite possibly the best song mars volta have done
work = work + 1;
sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
else if (work >= 0) {
reality.equals(false);
work = work +1;
}system("pause");
return 0;}
at the drive-in - relationship of command or in/casino/out
See These Bones
atdi - relationship of command because it just fucking rocks
as from At the Drive-In you'd better try This Station is Non Operational - Anthology (self explainatory)
Pfft.
