What some rock bands that you would recommend that havent been around that long. I'm looking for some bands that have a pearl jam feel to them.

No offence to pearljamgirl but I recommend you don't check out Simple Plan. They are one of the worst bands in existence.

They're nothing like PJ but check out Natural Snow Buildings. Incredible.

Black Kids. I don't think their album is even out yet. The EP is deadly though.

These bands are kind of similar to PJ:
    My Morning Jacket
    Kings of Leon
    Dredg
    Wintersleep

You will like them very much.

I've always thought the Tragically Hip and Pearl Jam were very similar in some ways.
    Which came first,
the bad idea or me befallen by it?

They are a colossal vacuum of talent :D

I have nothing against pop-punk but if I want to hear that I'll go for Jimmy Eat World or Sunny Day Real Estate. Simple Plan are just shite :)

The Hip have been around for 25 years. Hardly a new band

I thought they were like, Canada's national band? :D

And Ryan Adams has been releasing music since 1994.

    Otherwise, good choices :)

Ya, but the hip aren't THAT well known, so I figured I'd throw them in.
