Hey everyone
Zack Newman here.
SPIN apparently enjoyed my work on the Pearl Jam tour so much,
they asked me to come back and do the same thing for Radiohead.
i know you probably want to punch me in the face right now,
but instead, you should go here:
http://www.spin.com/radiohead-tour
and check out my adventures on the road!
even leave a few comments if you like!
see you out there!
zack
if i knew where it was, i would take you there-
there's not much more than this! (7-8-03 version)

i'll ride the wave where it takes me

ran to the ocean, smoked a joint in a tree...

if youve ever try talking to the people on the radiohead board youll quickly realize that their hardcore fanbase are a bunch of assholes... no comparison at all IMO... and im a huge radiohead fan... itll just never be of the same caliber as i am a PJ fan because i cant stand the pretentiousness that surrounds radiohead... there are so many people that think they are more "sophisticated" simply because they listen to radiohead and mindlessly follow their environmental agenda... that might fly when youre the "unique" outcast in middle school but seriously... get over yourselves (thats just the "hardcore" following... i know TONS of cool casual fans)

dont blame zack for taking this gig though... sounds sweet... like someone else already said though, dont expect a whole lot of variety in the setlists

You son of a bitch!!! My advice to you is to head to Las Vegas as soon as humanly possible.

Let me guess what your next two stints will be . . .

    1) See what living at the Playboy Mansion for six months is like

    2) Co-star in Broken Lizard's Potfest.

The gods are smiling upon you. Enjoy the good times.

All told, these guys put on the best show I've seen in my life. What an incredible opportunity; hope you have a great time.
  • So glad to hear that you're getting hooked up like this. I'll be at the show in LA. While it's a long shot, maybe we'll run into each other.

    ROCK.

Radiohead is easily in my top 5 favorite bands.

If you EVER decide to leave that gig, I'd like to apply for that position.

ya man, have a blast, im not blaming you, i'd take the free ride in a second of course! it just cheapens it a little for me. like now there will be coverage for those hardcore radioheaders, i want PJ's fans to be the best and get the coverage our community deserves, cuz we all rock and treat eachother great on the road. but i guess you covered PJ's fans first, start at the top and work down!

Let's not get into comparing fans of different bands by declaring ourselves the best. We have our share of assholes in the 10 Club. People can and should like bands other than just Pearl Jam. If you only listen to one band's music you need to broaden your horizons.

Pearl Jam is my favorite band, but the greatest performance I've ever seen was Radiohead at Bonnaroo when they left over 80,000 music fans speechless. That didn't make me like Pearl Jam any less than I did before seeing that show.

Don't knock redmosquito1975 for getting this great gig. I certainly wouldn't turn it down. What did you want him to do now to keep his job, report on the new threads here? Why shouldn't Radiohead fans receive similar coverage?

BTW redmosquito1975, do you need an assistant while on the road? I'm not working right now and would be willing to travel for a job. :)

Zack, I never commented but did see your blog during the PJ tour and enjoyed viewing/reading your stories! I didn't catch all of them because I was too busy with my life - and being jealous of all of you all! :D But very happy for you all! :)

Congratulations on the Radiohead tour - I saw them at Lollapalooza and enjoyed it very much! I was in the front row and it was great.

But Rage Against The Machine? Pheewww...that was INTENSE!

I am so glad that I can now say I got to see them live!

    Have a great time, Zack!

Perhaps I'll make some time to check out your blog for the RH tour before I go back to school.

For those who are nearing 40 like me, it's never too late to get education. :p;)

    Peace!

  • Not only do their shows always SOUND amazing but they are amazing to see as well. Even if the music was garbage, the light show is second to none. You get your money's worth that's for sure. I definitely get my money's worth at a Pearl Jam show as well but they pretty much just show up and play. For $20 cheaper you get the total package with RH AND the tour shirts are awesome quality.
