wtf people? this band definitely deserves its own thread. their new album, Old Growth, is definitely worth checking out. i've been working backwards from there, and found out that Feathers is even better! still need to check out Shivering King, but out of their oldest material Howls from the Hills stands out. they had more of Led Zep/Sabbath vibe going then with big riffs so it's nice to hear how they've evolved.

any fans?

I'm a fan. I don't have the new one yet. Feathers and the self titled album are my favorites. Their guitarist has a great, trippy tone. I discovered them from a magazine article on modern psychedelic music. There was a joint interview with Dead Meadow and Comets on Fire and it got me into both bands. I started a Comets on Fire thread a long time ago, but it died pretty quickly.

glad you mentioned this about their older material. I had heard this, a buddy and I purchased Old Growth and simply didn't really get the comparison. It didn't stop me from enjoying Old Growth which I think it a great disc. I'll look out for earlier cd's one of these days.
  • Great band. First heard of them when I saw them open for stephen malkmus and the jicks back in 2003. Haven't heard any of the new album yet though.

Saw them open for Sleater-Kinney back in 2005....pretty good little band.

i meant to post this earlier. it's a film trailer about the American stoner/psych/whatever rock movement. aside from the obvious Dead Meadow nod in the film title (comes from a folk poem too), there's a lot of random footage of them and other awesome bands. i'm really looking forward to checking this out. if nothing else, i'll be amused by how far out there and stoned some of these people are. just keep playing music!

    Q: 'what is heavy?'
    A: 'uhhhhhh'

i have Feathers and Shivering King.. love both. also have a live record that's pretty shitty. the songs just don't translate well in a live setting. but that's me!!

haven't heard much else but if the price is right i will!
