  • I love Around The Sun, but i'm definitely excited about a new album of uptempo songs.

    I can't wait for March 31st!

funnily enough...i think my fav (from what i've heard of the new material) is gonna be a slow tempo song "until the day is done" that song is gonna be huge for REM..

Did you go to the Dublin shows last year? I've made a point of not listening to the bootlegs because i want every song to be completely new for me when i hear the album.

agh that's too bad. I'm sure there's a Euro tour on the horizon though for the new album. I've only seen them once, in 2005 in Manchester. It was amazing!

  • i've heard rumours that the new album is only going to be about 30-35 minutes long (suggesting more rockers). just a rumour though. i can't wait!

damn i hope its longer than that

the stuff i've heard is even more old school than monster...similar to their 80s rockers
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

They got a handful of songs I really like but for the most part I have never understood their huge following. They seem to be very influential on many of my favorite bands as well, I just dont get it.

During the mid-late 90's when I listened to alternative radio all the time I never felt the need to buy an R.E.M. album. I satisfied with the fact that I could hear them just about every hour on the radio - no need make a purchase. Last year it suddenly hit me that I missed hearing this band since I gave up on the radio, so I've been slowing buying up the CD's. It's kind of nice that most of their albums can be had on amazon.com for $0.01 + shipping if you're willing to buy used.;)

I'm looking forward to buying a nice shiny new copy of Accelerate though.
  • Has anyone been visiting http://www.ninetynights.com? There's been a new video clip every day since January 1st, counting down until release day.
Each clip is only about 2 mins long, but they're really cool!

Definitely a band that needs more than a 1st time listen to grab them...
they sorta "grow" on ya ..you find wee gems of musical genius with this band...unlike PJ who just grab ya by the nuts straight away. i kinda grew into REM during their "grunge" period...i.e. monster, naihf. lets hope for more the same.....ROCK ON PPL
