Free 'Oscar' and 'Sirens' - A DBT Fan Petition

In an attempt to communicate to New West Records that the fans of the Drive-by Truckers are more than ready for the release of Patterson’s solo album, Murdering Oscar and Other Love Songs and Jason's solo album, Sirens of the Ditch, a petition has been created.

http://www.petitiononline.com/7235018/petition.html

The hope for this petition is to encourage New West to expedite the release of these two albums or to enable Patterson and Jason to release them at their leisure.

http://www.petitiononline.com/7235018/petition.html

Both of these albums have been on the shelf for a couple of years now. If enough signatures can be collected, maybe New West will reconsider their business strategy regarding these album and see that it would be economically as well as promotionally advantageous to release these albums sooner rather than later.

You can sign the petition at the link below. Just a couple of clicks, your name, email address, and zip code/country is all that it takes!

Thank you for your consideration and support!

    Done................power to the peeps.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
  • Does either Patterson or Jason want these to be released? or at least released right now. I am sure if they were ready to be released they would be released. Also ABAAC is still pretty new, I think they are still trying to hype that record up a little bit. I hope they get released but it should be totally up to Patterson and Jason so I don't know about signing it.

Another Trucker Solo Album Drive-By Trucker Jason Isbell's solo album, tentatively titled "Sirens of the Ditch" is scheduled for an early 2005 release on New West, DBT's label.

The set list was dominated by new tunes like "Shotgun Wedding" from the solo record "Sirens of the Ditch," set to drop this summer. Isbell threw in a few covers and DBT tunes, but not as many as expected.

You’ve recorded a solo album on New West, but it hasn’t been released. When can we expect something?

I’ve been disenchanted with the label’s idea of what to do with it. I have it and it’s mine and it’s finished. However, I have to put it out when it doesn’t interfere with a Drive-By Truckers release.

Yeah... like PBM said - they are itching to get this stuff out - and people are itching to hear it...

I'm signing now... as should everyone else...

If there's anything like Dress Blues on Jason's solo disc...it needs to get released quickly.

Yeah... with all due respect to Patterson, it is Jason's album I'm looking forward to the most...

New West seems to like to sit on records for some reason. The Lucinda Williams live disc took forever to come out, and they've got a Jayhawks live album they've been taking their time releasing.

    just signed it.

on a side note, i just caught DBT live for the first time in DC last weekend and it was the shit! the show was broadcast on NPR and is still up to stream at npr.org or to download at bt.etree.org.
  • Someone named Traci from New West posted on the DBT board that
    1) the records aren't finished yet and
    2) they want to let ABAAC "run its course" before these go out

So, the petition got us the skinny at least.

no, my friends and i left for the show a little late and weren't able to get too close to the front. we ended up next to the bar on the right side of the floor. which actually ended up not being too bad at all lol. damn that show was a lot of fun, i had a blast.

  • I want to thank all the folks who signed the Free ‘Oscar’ and ‘Sirens” petition.

    http://www.petitiononline.com/7235018/petition.html

We’re making one, final push for more signatures.

Since the petition was introduced, we received a pretty good response… 259 folks have signed it so far.

The petition garnered a response from New West on the Ninebullets.org board. Thanks, Traci!

Also, Patterson makes a recent mention regarding ‘Oscar’ and ‘Sirens’ in his “Tour Notes” on the bands website. 2007 looks to be the year for both of the releases.

But, the petition is still pertinent, as these albums have been teased for release for a couple of years now. So, let your voices be heard and sign the petition if you haven’t. We’ll close the petition in the beginning of September and send it to New West, Jason and Patterson.

    Thank you for you support!
