any one pick this album up yet? i got into Murder By Death on their stellar Who Will Survive And What Will be Left Of Them album (nice Texas Chainsaw Massacre reference there) and was hooked ever since. after their last record In Bocca al Lupo i was sort of dissapointed. man... i bought their new record on a whim... well i checked up the Fuego! EP on iTunes first, but whatever. i'm glad i did. this is one of the strongest records i've heard in a while.
for those of you who don't know: Murder By Death is not some screamo band even though their name might indicate that. they're pure Americana rock n roll. very spooky, almost country-ish at times.. in a good way! like a modern day Johnny Cash the way you love him. MBD's celloist, Sarah Balliet, adds a whole nother layer or dimension to their music. one guitar, one cello, one bass, and drums. if you like music about whiskey, the devil, and all around awesome shit do yourself a favor and check out Murder By Death.
cool songs (not just on the new one but in general):
Brother
Sometimes The Line Walks You
Ash
Theme (instrumental)
Rum Brave
Fuego!
Three Men Hanging
A Masters In Reverse Psychology
The Desert Is On Fire
I'm Afraid Of Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolfe
Those Who Stayed (instrumental)
Those Who Left (instrumental)

Just got into it. one of my favorites this year. I love the drama in the lead singer's voice. It DOES sound like the music could be dangerous.
Haven't bought anything else by them. Yet.0 -
