I just recently picked up the album. Its good and grows on you the more you listen. I love "magick." I was new to his material, so now I am enjoying backtracking through his material. I definitely misjudged the guy.

  • I gotta say it took me a while to start liking this record. I love just about everything he's done, too. I never miss a Bay Area appearance he makes -- so yeah I also have to see Oasis just to see him open. But I've never seen Oasis so I'll have low expectations and hopefully I'll be surprised.
    Rock on!

Jervin007, I read your posts in another RA thread. My favorite albums by him are Cold Roses and Love is Hell Parts 1 and 2. Definitely pick up those and then you'll want to get Heartbreaker. That should keep you occupied for the next month!
    Rock on!

  • Yeah I agree with those Recommendations... Definitely Cold Roses, which is closest to what he is doing now with the Cardinals... As Cheesy and poppy as it is, I still love throwing on Rock N Roll once in a while too.... great pop rock songs on that album... I highly recommend Easy Tiger too... Goodnight Rose, for me, is classic...

Thanks for the recommendations! I actually picked up Cold Roses yesterday and am listening to it as we speak. It is great. I can definitely see that country/folkish aspect to his music now. Once I tire to Cardinology and Cold Roses I will definitely move down your list. Much appreciated!

This album took a while to grow on me, but I'm loving it now.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

  • I have to admit I don't know enough about Ryan Adams. I have Gold, and love it; I also have Demolition, but am not a big fan of that one.

I have one of the Love is Hell discs -- the one with Wonderwall on it -- and it's pretty decent.

I've been thinking about picking up the newest album with the Cardinals, since I'll be seeing him/them open for Oasis in December.

Based on what I said about the 3 albums above, will I like it?

listened to this about a handful of times and still hasn't clicked yet. it may not ever i'm afraid. i dig several of the songs but overall it doesn't make me want to listen to the whole thing from start to finish. i've been a fan of Ryan's work since Pneumonia came out so i'm not too worried if this one doesn't make the cut. pretty much everything else has so far.
