I was wrong about Pearl Jam's latest effort...

This may seem a little late, but I actually gave the self-titled album a real listen the other night. I was very suspicious because I hadn't been too thrilled with their previous two efforts and I was so pleasantly surprised. What a great album.

I'm reinvigorated with the band.

Did anyone else experience this?
I don't understand.

  • I really liked it for about a fortnight after it first leaked, but haven't really listened to it since. it's very strong in places, but at no time do I feel, "I'm really in the mood for this". However, songs from the album work very well, live. They maintain an energy level that many of the Binaural and Riot Act songs lack.

Binaural live is much better than the studio album.

That being said, I'd rank the self-titled 3rd to 4th among my favorite PJ albums.... Binaural is 2nd.... but the self-titled I liked right from the start, Binaural and Riot Act had to grow on me a bit.

Loved it immediately, my favorite since Yield. I still listen to it fairly often.
It is time to admit that we used to rock like hurricanes. It is time to run for the hills and go round and round. It is time for us to shout at the devil. We've got the right to choose it, there ain't no way we'll lose it, and we're not gonna take it anymore.
