I'm ready for a new album!!! I wish they would bring Nick back but I don't think that's going to happen.
  • Doubt Nick will be back, as badass as that would be.

But they are just fine without him.

I know im in the minority, but Lullabyes is my favorite album.. and no Nick there.

  • I saw them on the last tour that promoted Era Vulgaris. Without a doubt, one of the best shows I have ever seen. They started off the night with Regular John and it was amazing. They actually started off the show with a lot of tracks from their first album.

Rated R is my favorite album of theirs. I can listen to that front to back all day without skipping tracks. I honestly enjoy all their albums. QOTSA definitely have their own sound, yet their albums tend to not repeat themselves, which is something I appreciate out of any band.

Also, as a result of listening to them I have gotten into Eagles of Death Metal, Fatso Jetson, Kyuss, and the Dessert Session releases (which has members of QOTSA along with some of Josh's friends).

I liked no one knows and lost arts of keeping a secret - brilliant songs. But they totally suck, i saw them live and they blow.

I know this is appreciation thread but just bring back Kyuss for everyone's sake.

Love the band. Some new album news here:

New QOTSA album will be a 'desert orgy in the dark'.

Josh Homme is planning to push his bandmates to psychological extremes to records Queens of the Stone Age's next album.

The singer/guitarist told NME he'll take the Queens' members into the middle of the desert to build energy for the band's next record.

"We're going to take a minute to give Queens a breath then come back next year, that's what it takes to keep it fresh" he said, explaining that the group will live together at his studio at Joshua Tree in the Californian desert to "build tension". "We're going to record it live, we may move out there for a few months," he said. "That way you build up anxiety and desperateness to record - so when do it, it's like a fireball."

He added: "We point in a general direction and go. It's like wandering around a desert orgy in the dark. You never know what you'll grab."

“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

Got into them slowly..bought Songs for the deaf when i was 13 cause i liked no one knows...after i bought lullabyes though i got into them hardcore. saw them open for NIN in 05 and for Rage at alpine valley last summer. Finally caught them headlining for Era Vulgaris and thought it was one of the best shows i've ever been to. I love how the past three albums have all sounded completely different than each other.

...heard Josh on the radio when Era was getting released and he said they he was gonna try and get the desert sessions out on a box set.

Hooray for Queens!!! Seen them 7 times now. Once on the Lullabies Tour, once opening for NIN, twice on the "Duluth Tour" for Era Vulgaris, once opening for Rage and another two times on the EV tour.

The last show was probably the best. Now how's this for a set

    Era Vulgaris
    Do It Again
    Avon
    Infinity
    3s and 7s
    In The Fade
    River In The Road
    THE MOTHERFUCKING BRONZE
You Can't Quit Me, Baby (nearly 20 minutes long)
    Turning On The Screw
    Misfit Love
    Make It Wit Chu
    Sick, Sick, Sick
    Burn The Witch
    Little Sister
    Go With The Flow

    Millionaire
    Song For The Dead
Hello, I love you. Won't you tell me your name?
  • It was actually while taking a QOTSA crash-course that I rediscovered Mark Lanegan and how incredible a vocalist he is. I like QOTSA and thought they were quite good the one time I saw them, but for me the ML fronted tracks are easily the best. I also love his cover of Auto Pilot from his solo tours. I think my fave song otherwise is Better Living Through Chemistry. That one is all kinds of bad-ass.

I always wished he sang the lead vocals on Autopilot on the album. He really sounds great on that song. I never got to see QOTSA with ML but I agree the songs he sings on seem to be my favorite.
