I love The Decemberists. New album October 3!
Anyone else a fan?

New album? Good to hear. I thought Picaresque was fantastic. I'm hoping to see them live later this summer.

They are really good and I'm looking forward to the new album. I kind of feel like I like them a little less with each new record though... Castaways is the best, following Her Majesty, and then Picaresque last. I hope the new album changes that progression.
I'm the first mammal to wear pants, yeah
  • I only have Picaresque but that album rules.

    I love The Decemberists!

For me it goes Castaways and Cutouts, Picaresque, then Her Majesty.

  • colin meloy said the new album wil be more like "the tain" than "picaresque" aka longer songs, some longer than 15 mins i think i read! anyway that should be good news for those of you who didn't like picaresque.

i liked it, but not as well as castaways...but i don't have her majesty.

"Eli, the Barrow Boy" is a brilliant song.

I'd agree with that. I got all the records from Itunes, except for 5 songs/The Tain. I picked that up on vinyl. I want to pick up the rest on vinyl, and though it's the record I like the least, I think Picaresque will be the first, just for the extra songs.

But yeah, Castaways is def. my favorite. Favorite song tends to shift, right now it's Grace Cathedral Hill.

I haven't listened to them much at all (just haven't gotten around to it), but I do have a few of their songs on my mp3 player (because a friend from here recommended them), and I really like all of those.
