Actually they have some pretty cool out of the loop stuff. A bunch of live crap too. Nothing too mainstream spectactular, but a few hidden gems

I like new wave ambient type shit as well and have foudn some pretty sweet artists there I never heard of:

Mogwai
Explosions in the Sky
Lisa Gerrard adn Pat Cassidy

if you like enyaish, love spirals downwards type stuff those 3 are pretty sweet

    what is e-music?

I love Mogwai. 'Happy Songs for Happy People' is fucking sexy.

it is a online music download source.

you can get vouchers and cards at places like circuit city. An actual legit place to get mp3 downloads without disclaimers and usages mandates.

They claim over a million songs available, that I don't doubt, but most of it is live albums and other people singing the real groups stuff on tributes or even karaokee.

There is some real good stuff on emusic if you know what you're looking for. Some recommendations are: Fima Ephron, Gene Lake, and Garaj Mahal.

you must not be looking too hard if you can't find anything you like. I have been a member there since 2000 and have not used less than 90 downloads a month.

In fact, I think it is the only legit service out there. Not only are there NO restrictions once you download, they keep track of what you did download, in case of a hard drive crash, you just go out and re-download them no charge. Once you download them, you can do so as often as you like. You can burn them as often as you would like, hell ya can't beat it.

I mean, most if not all of the Pixies, Pavement, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, M. Ward, Mastodon, Black Keys, Belle and Sebastian, Isis, Mountain Goats, Destroyer, Tobin Sprout, Guided by Voices, TV on the Radio, Drive by Truckers, I can go on for days the amount of good music there.

I pay (no longer available to new members) 19.99 a month for 90 songs. If one isn't hung up on mp3's and coverart, I am not sure why one wouldn't give this a shot.

I've been a member for about nine months now. I love it. I was surprised to see they have the new releases from Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, and Apples in Stereo. Well worth the membership fee!
