first at all Pearl jam are far better than Creed, and stapp was a vedder wannabe, but i consider that creed was a good band, with many great songs, and well produced albums, especially their first two....

sometimes i´m listening my own prison and i think i would like hear mcready-gossard playing powerful guitars tunes like tremonti did in this album...

  • Reasons why I don't consider Creed to be a good band.
    1. They were completly unoriginal. I didn't see one interesting concept come out of that band, just a bunch of stereotypes and cliches.
    2. They were way overproduced. There is something to be said for lack of production, it's what has made Rick Rubin one of the greatest producers of all time. Creed's albums had a polish that has no place in rock music.
    3. They took themselves way too seriously. Have you seen any of their videos? They tried far too hard to be epic and just ended up being laughable.
    4. They sounded like bad Pearl Jam wannabies. Come on, why listen to the crappy knock offs when you have the real thing?

i always thought Creed's first album was pretty good. (bring on the flames). the second album was ok, and the third absolute shit! i agree with the produced sound, except for the first album which is very raw sounding.

however, it really lacked originality and the songs just don't carry the test of time...
drifting around, figuring it out as i go along...
  • ill also say the first wasnt bad. i havent listened to it since like 2000 maybe but i know i liked it then. if creed would have been a one hit(album, rather) wonder i think there would be a lot less hate. either way scott is a joke.

i agree with all of these reasons to dislike creed.

#3 reminds me of Angels and Airwaves- they think theyre changing the world or something when they play. Tom DeLonge should put his freakin arms down when he plays too!

Who´s dead? I take it someone from Creed.

I think he's referring to the fact that they broke up...none of the members are dead as far as I know

I reviewed Creed's greatest hits record for the local paper a couple of years back. Determined to give it a fair listen, I played the whole thing through, and my first suspicions were confirmed, it was a steaming pile of bloated shit. Musically I could forgive it for being meat and potatoes rock, but vocally and lyrically they were utter bollocks.

I've actually met the 3 musicians from the band after an Alter Bridge show (I don't care what people say, I like them!!), and they are stupidly down to earth, I was totally shocked. I was expecting them to be pretty egotistical since Creed were a huge band, but they were really laid back, happy to chat for ages, sign anything, have pictures taken etc. Anyway back to the main point, Creed sucked balls!

maybe i used to like them because when they came out, the rock scene was getting worse with all nu metal bands, i think, it wasn´t the worst second decade period ever because pj and stp released yield and no.4, two great albums...

at least i prefer creed than all almost all emo/nu metal bands toguether....

Scott Stapp sounded like a bad Eddie Vedder impersonater, I think that is where the comparison comes from.

hahahaha I just meant that it was created on All Encompassing Trip. You know the board for topics that don't fit anywhere else. It was replaced that is all I was just being silly you said that you can't believe anyone would create it here when in fact it was created on another board then the other music board. I was just joking. I knew what you meant.:D

I too am in the minority here. I really liked the first album and the second was pretty good. The third sucked ass. Lest anyone forget, your beloved Jerry Cantrell was the opening act for Creed when I saw them on tour in 2002.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Well it might seem like a weak comparison to you, but since pretty much everyone else agrees, I'd say you might be a bit well....wrong!!!! like I said, he sounded like a BAD Vedder impersonater - like he wanted to sound like Ed, but had none of the vocal technique or ability.
