I'd hafta say the epitome of grunge for me is prolly:

Interstate Love Song or Big Empty - the soft, the introspective, the hard, the crush, the cacophany. Songs that Small Town, Daughter, Betterman just didn't get hard enough to become.... I can see All or None getting there on an extended jam perhaps...

    Filling out the top 10:
    Smells Like Teen Spirit
    Jeremy, Alive, Release, Corduroy
    Creep
Black Hole Sun, Black Days (but c'mon, Day I tried to Live!)
    Over Now or Nutshell

Grunge isn't quite punk and all these bands can kinda pull off this alt Punk / surf punk / bubblegum punk kinda sound (comatose, lukin). It's not straight out rock and roll and all these bands can pull those tunes off too.

Big Empty and Interstate Love Song (along with Black Days and Black Hole Sun) just epitomize the grunge feel to me. Could be acoustic, but ya know you like it electric. Just a soft little song with a hard core (haha I'll leave that.)

I dunno, Big Empty just slays me: her dizzy head is conscience laden

WTF?!?@?@ Just the perferct freakin words, incredible evocotive emotive lyrics and music. Amazing....

    Kinda like Ten. or Yield.

to me the grunge word doesnt make any sense
for me alot of the so called grunge bands reminded
me of early seventies kiss albums which i would call rock
grunge to me i'd prefer if they called them punk or rock

maybe thats what i mean ,im not sure
    set your laughter free

    dreamer in my dream

    we got the guns

    i love you,but im..............callin out.........callin out
  • Hmmm...of the top o my head.........

    low self opinion
    100%
    Love under Will
    Butterfly (the verve)
    dead and bloated
    Jermey
    two princes
    opinion
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key
