I decided to load up the iPod with artists who i really like were either from California or were identified with a California sound.

    I'd agree with both these choices, and it's always great to see boingo mentioned here. Boingo was my first favorite band back in high school, and I moved on to the Dead shortly afterward.

    Maybe Neil Young? He's lived in CA a lot longer than Canada, but I'd venture that he's still considered a Canadian artist.
