Here are the singers I think are the absolute best

Robert Plant- LZ, in his heyday, had the most amazing range for a rock singer...especially on the blusier songs.

Jim morrison- TD, i love his deep voice, very influential

Chris cornell- SG, i think he took the best of plant and jim

hm:ed vedder, ian gillan and layne stanley

Jim Morrison-Whether he was drunk or stoned he always sounded great

John Fogerty-What an amazing voice he had in the CCR days

    1. Robert Plant
    2. Layne Staley
    3. Chris Cornell (if you count the period 88-97)

closely followed by Ed, Michael Stipe and Kurt Cobain
"...though my problems are meaningless....that don't make them go away...."
  • 1) Cornell- The ' beyond the Wheel' live performance circa 94' may be the greatest male vocal ever.

    2) Mercury- goes without saying.

    3) Plant- Hell of a singer but I suspect his rating as the best has more to do with 70's nostalgia then vocal ability.

I find it very interesting on a Pearl Jam forum that I'm the only one to put Eddie on my list. Weird.

Lennon's voice it´s so great, fit so many different kinds of songs

The lead singer of Boston, Brad Delp (who recently passed away) had an AMAZING range, listen to More Than a Feeling, how does he hit those notes?

it´s weird nobody has mentioned roger daltrey
