Ticket System

Better servers does not solve a thing---

If they have 1k tickets to a venue and there are 1k ten club members who get a pair of tickets. We will still have 500 members shut out --

Its supply and demand-- if u have less tickets then demand - no system will solve that

I think system is fine-- yes ive been shut out before-- Thats life-- there will be 16k seats available during general sale-- go get them and enjoy show

Anyone who complains is clueless -- What other band allows you decent chance to sit in amazing seats for $70????

Every other band i know, does these stupid ticketmaster presales that every ticket broker in the universe gets the presale code for --

Try getting Foo Fighter tickets in 1st 5 rows. Wont happen unless u are extremely lucky or pony up the cash!!!!!!

THANK YOU PEARL JAM - THANK YOU TEN CLUB

    That's not the point...

The point is I spent 45 minutes yesterday trying to get tickets and repeatedly had them in my cart, eneterd my CC #, then the site crashes and I get logged out.

We know it's first come first serve. I had them, then the site screws up.

This, infact, can be fixed through faster servers.

This has happened to me before with Ticketmaster and with the Glastonbury festival site, when I've been one of hundreds of thousands if not more trying to get tix. You should try getting tickets for Glastonbury, it's a much more of a nightmare than a few hours on the TC site.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

Its the same as going to the beach on July 4th, buying flowers on Valentines day, going to temple on Rosh Hassanah or going to the post office on April 15th......there will be crowds, and it doesn't always make sense to raise the capacity!

faster servers? no, more servers behind a load balancer, yes. a load balancer in front of a cluster would allow them to scale as they needed to for high demand events, however the cost of doing so probably outweighs the benefit for them, and us, because if their costs go up, so do ours. Big sites like TM have the capital to do these things because of the outrageous "handling/convenience" fees they charge, if 10c were handling *all* the ticket sales for a show, it'd be worth the effort.

how much for one of these "load balancer" thing-a-ma-bobs?
    :D

What colors do they come in?

Can you spout off some interesting specifications and facts about them?

    SELL IT, man.
Sell us on the "load balancer".

Cause, all i think of when i hear "load balancer" is ...
uh ... well ... you probably don't want me to describe that.
    ;)
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

I posted this on another thread but thought it could be discussed here:

One way to get more fans tickets is to go back to the system of limiting the # of shows fans can buy tickets for. It wouldn't have to be for all cities, just the ones that sell out quickly. Its great to be able to go to multiple shows, but I would easily give that up so that more fans could get tickets. If they would have only allowed 10c members to buy tix for MSG1 OR MSG2, I think they'd have made a lot more members happy.

Bump (yes from a year ago). I just can't take the fact that this is another tour I won't get 10C tix for. Is there any way 10C can distribute tickets more evenly to members?!?

Isn't that a waste of money? I mean, it's not like a Ticketmaster business with lots of online transactions. Most of the time, it's a few people discussing Eddie's hair or pants.
It would be the same a me buying a dump truck as my daily driver because once every other year i have to haul a bunch of crap to the city dump.
