I'm going tomorrow night at Jones Beach. Can't wait! Should be interesting to see them outdoors, instead of an arena, and in a place with no GA, which means no pit. This shall be my fourth time seeing them.

Just saw NIN last night in Saratoga. Oh.My.God. Why did it take me this long? What an amazing show. I've probably only heard about half their songs, but I'd go to at least one show every tour from now on. It was an absolutely awesome live show. As a noob to their shows I wondered if veterans were hoping not to hear the more well known tracks (the way some people here are about Daughter or something) but I was glad to hear Head Like a Hole, The Hand that Feeds, Only, Closer and Hurt. Sometimes I just found myself closing my eyes so I could focus on the music and let it envelope me.

If you've never seen them and want to still hear in 20 years, foam earplugs are probably a good idea. I wear little non-foam ones for PJ that I pull out half the time, but here even with the foam ones I could hear every word perfectly. If you like to rock hard with a band that's great live, this show is for you.

I saw NIN 3 times in the last year, I saw them last year when they played smaller venues and that was kick ass becauise it was close up, then saw the Arena tour int he fall and it was ok, I saw them again a couple of weeks ago an outdoor venue here, and it was the absolutel best show I ever saw them play. They only played 3 songs off the new album, and mixed in rarities like "Burn" and "Get Down Make Love" and the live band Trent has together right now sounds so fucking good. This current tour is the time to see them!

I just saw them in Raleigh last Friday night. Good show. Their guitarist lets loose every once in while. Cool lights too.

I went to see NIN for the first time at the Orpheum last year...

Trent's voice is so true to the sound of his albums...very different from PJ...but incredible nontheless.

    Highly recommended!

I'm hooked - just went on and got NIN Toronto tickets for June 24th- I'm already seeing PJ in Pittsburgh the night before, so this will break up the drive home - I don't have to miss any work, or disrupt anything to head over to Toronto the next night, and then shorter drive home Sunday - couldn't be any better!

I'll echo the sentiments here, I saw them on Saturday night at Jones Beach and they were amazing, like always. Great seats right in front of the sound booth, maybe 20 rows back from the stage. Just an all around great performance. They may only play for about an hour and 45 minutes, but they crank out 20 or so tunes with such intensity that by the end you're exhausted, and probably hoarse from screaming at the top of your lungs.

Saw them again last week and was blown away as usual. I know Trent's got to be tired of touring by now, but I was so happy to get one more show in.

p.s. Here's something about tonight's Hartford show that just might put a damper on audience participation, though ...

I have to post again because I'm so excited to be seeing them again in Toronto on Saturday! One live show last week and they/he have/has catapulted at the speed of light to tie with Springsteen as my 2nd favorite band after Pearl Jam.

Can't wait for Toronto. The weatherman is calling for a perfect day. Sunny with a high of 24 (~75 for you Americans). See you there.

I just finish seeing them in PNC, Jones Beach, and Saratoga. Great shows. Jones Beach was fucking cold though. I was shivering to death, and when I finally decided to cave in and buy a hoodie they were all sold out. I think I did pretty good this time around. At PNC I caught a drum stick from Bauhaus, and at Saratoga I got a pic, Jeordie hit me with a bottle which I have and so did Trent..I have that one too. Saratoga's pit was beyond amazing though...it was so cool to be able to actually have room to move...and as always security was amazing. I'm semi tempted to go to tomorrow night's show in Mass. I got 4 hours after work to make it there before NIN hits the stage. BTW..Peaches was fucking great.

Well here's one. I saw them last November here in Winnipeg with Queens of the Stone Age and Death From Above 1979, and both of the other bands put on a much better show. NIN's show seemed so produced and directed. I prefer bands that get on stage and play whatever the feel like, not a travelling show that's the same in each city. Plus Trent lost the crowd with about 5 too many slow songs in a row towards the end.

It was the 3rd time that I saw them and it was so good. Visually, it was unreal.

Thank you! While the show does have great energy and a cool light show, it's very produced and for lack of a better term, "Packaged." I HATE anything prerecorded, kinda defeats the purpose of a Live concert. Also, what's up with the 90 minute sets with NO encore??? The crowd here was going nuts when the house lights came up at the end of the set. I still can't believe that one myself. Again, it's an entertaining show, but not even close to all that!

I think the encore, at least for when I saw them last year and last week starts with Hurt. They all kind of leave the stage and Trent just plays most of it solo on the keyboards. Then the rest of the band join him onstage to close out the song. Then its into The Hand That Feeds and finishing off the show, and a lot of their instruments life, with Head Like A Hole.

It's a trade-off you either get the cool light show/stage effects (like with NIN) OR you get the off the cuff anything can happen jam-fest (like Pearl Jam). You can't have both since light shows and stage effects are carefully coordinated.

Both types are great in their own way.

The only thing that's better about Pearl Jam is that if you choose to follow them around, you get all different shows.

    I

Both types are great in their own way.

I would agree with this - its like comparing a great white shark to a lion. Both are powerful but very different animals. I like both types of show - I like the sense of anything can happen that you get at PJ sometimes; but I am also liking the precision of NIN. That guy is fucking good.

And NIN blew my mind a second time last night in Toronto. Can it get any better than 2 awesome shows in 2 nights? Pearl Jam in Pittsburgh Friday and NIN on Saturday in Toronto.

Saw them on the 23rd in Portland, ME. Solid, kickass show! I've been kind of a casual fan over the years and almost didn't want to go to this show. But in the end, I'm glad that I did. Trent is the consumate musician and genius, irregardless of how "packaged" his live shows are. PJ and NIN are two different animals and offer different things to different people. One isn't necessarily better than the other as it comes down to a matter of personal taste. I think that I'm officially hooked now!
  • i got my tickets to see them in pittsburgh later this week, i keep hearing alot of great things, its getting me pretty excited. plus i just saw pearl jam live afew days ago, so being able to see pearl jam, and then NIN in the same week is just amazing.
