I remember Incubus coming to Cleveland in 2004 and they tried to play Gund Arena (which holds close to 22k for concerts) for $40/$35 a seat tickets..that didn't go over well, and they had to move it 3 weeks before the show to Tower City Amphitheater which holds 5,000 people and they couldn't even sell that out. They said they moved because they wanted to be outside...but us Clevelanders know the real reason.

Kid Rock and Foo Fighters almost did the same thing this year, moving from Gund Arena to the Wolstien Center. I mean Weezer has some big venues to fill with a rough economy...it ain't gonna happen
  • that's nice weezer.....but the Tsongas Arena isn't in Boston........it's in fucking lowell.....not even in the general vicinity.

I saw them in an arena touring for the Green Album. They didn't fill it up, but they had a pretty big crowd. I think they would be more popular now after "Beverly Hills", also "Pork & Benas" and "Troublemaker" have gotten good radio play.

They weren't that interesting when I saw them. Their music sounds really good, but all they did was walk out on stage, belt out about an hour and half worth of music and then leave. No fan interaction at all. Musically, it was a very good show, but they get no points for showmanship or fan interaction.

I think the tickets would have to be < $20 for me to see them play their new songs...

yeah, they seem like the type of band that just stands there and plays their songs.

I'd go see them for $20 or maybe in a small club-type of show

I'm just curious, do you enjoy their two most recent albums?

I own both and really never liked the first of the two. So far I like most of the new one though. If I made a list of must-sees I probably wouldn't include them, but something worth seeing to me if for no reason other than nostalgia

I completely understand, I think everybody has those nostalgic bands they would like to see if they got the chance. Has their tour started? It might be useful to check their setlists, if they are heavy on the newer stuff maybe it wouldn't be worth going?
  • when weezer played the susquehanna center (tweeter at the time) back in 2002 or 2003, maladriot tour, it was their largest crowd at that time. so they have fans. they had 3 legs for the green album. i havent followed them much since make believe, but they put on a good show and know how to sell tickets.

in a way they are like pj, most people dont even think they are around and yet they sell-out venues no problem.

An arena tour is quite ambitious for Weezer.......River's ego (and wallet) may take a beating!
  • are you agreeing or being sarcastic, haha. i dont knows

Agreeing......I thought they put on a fantastic show. Saw them outdoors then and it was really fun.

Lol, you kinda have to laugh at an excuse like that, because you know they can't just say, "well, we haven't sold enough tickets to fill that venue." So they say that or they say they wanted to do a more intimate show thing. That reminds me of when Incubus came to Fort Wayne, IN that same year. First, the show was supposed to be in July. Then, it got moved to November (can't remember the reason that was given), but then in October, there was some sort of deal, where tickets were as low as $10. Then it went up a dollar a day till the end of October or somthing. And they still only drew like 3,000 people. Good point about the rough economy, i think odds are there's gonna be a lot of empty seats on those huge arenas.

they played the Myrtle Beach, SC House of Blues (capacity: 1800) about 3 years ago and tickets were $50. I remember thinking that Weezer must have some big ego to think their live show is worth $50. I mean, STP, Green Day, Alice in Chains, and Van Halen have all played this same venue and none of them (except Van Halen) came anywhere close to $50 a ticket. I mean, I like Weezer and all, but they aren't the type of band that I must see live to make my life complete.
