  • Been a 311 fan for quite sometime. Their live shows are getting a bit stale if you ask me. That said they are still one of my favorite bands and the do things the right way . . . Much like PJ

They were my favorite band for a while a few years back. Soundsystem was the first one I got, and I couldnt quit listening to Grassroots or Transistor. I wasnt too wild about From Chaos when it came out but enjoyed Evolver. After that I kinda quit listening to 'em, but lately I've felt the urge. They are really talented but I gotta say that SA Martinez has the uncanny ability to annoy the shit out of me at times. Also, I've never listened to them with the help of cannabis, and its something I definitely need to do. I have a feeling I will enjoy them even more after I participate in this activity :)

  • Have you seen them in SLC? I saw them at Salt Air a few years ago w/ Incubus it was a good show. It seems like they play there quite a bit.

I wish I would've gone to that show, but sadly I wasnt there. I did see them recently with Papa Roach though, who Im not a fan of but 311 was good of course. Saltair is a pretty good venue except for its proximity to the ass of the Great Salt Lake, but yeah they play here just about every year.

I used to love 311. I sort of lost track of them after Transistor, but every once in a while I dig out Music or Grassroots or the self titled ablum and jam out to them.

The only thing I like about em is the fact that they beat down Scott Stapp like the pussy that he is.

I've been a fan since Grassroots. They come in second for total times I've seen them live, right behind PJ. I saw them at the Varsity, which is a small club, when Grassroots first came out. Since then I've seen them I think around 8 or 9 times.

I caught their show here at the end of last year, when they were making up for the show that got cancelled from Katrina. Their live shows are amazing, but this one fell short. I don't know if the energy was just down or it was the fact that they didn't end the show with the song they've ended every single concert I've ever seen them do with, something just was off. FTBS is 311's Yellow Ledbetter. They just have to play it, ya know...

On a side note, after the first Varsity show I saw them at, I got to go on their bus with them, and partake of some aftershow winding down, if you know what I mean...cough...cough...
They were real cool guys, except Nick kinda had a real cocky attituide, and came off as a Primarockstar. Chad, the drummer, was the coolest, and P-nut is the wildest. Great times...

I actually have their demo..."Unity." Lots of songs that are on Music and Grassroots are on this disc.

In eighth grade the manager of our hockey team was from Omaha, NE and dated Nick Hexum.

Was a fan up until From Chaos/Soundsystem/Evolver as much of their tunes sound the same. I feel as though the ypaved the way for hybrid bands such as Linkin Park.

Still go and see them from time-to-time though, SA is the man.

I like 311 even though that's not really my type of music. But I saw a few live perfomances of them on TV and got turned off. They appear to me to be very limited, and very dependent on the studio for their sound
    I'll keep taking punches
    Untill their will grows tired
