It's late first wave/early second wave ska originally
later it had evolved to a little third wave (what you refer to as ska-punk)

i believe Soul Jazz Records and Trojan 2 of the best labels to start
with, with regards ska/reggae/dub/dancehall, although i dont know
how to differentiate betweem em all!
the 2-tone era in the uk or their 2nd wave of ska, has some amazing
groups and brilliant tunes! madness, the specials, the selecter, bad manners
and the beat(grosse point blank s'track!!).
i luv this muzak man!!
