I remember about 7 or 8 years ago, EVH booted Hagar out of the band.
They hired the singer from Extreme to take his place
They put out an album that bombed terribly.
They booted the Extreme guy out of the band

Hagar goes on tour with Roth as a kind of F*ck you to the VH brothers

** Then, my buddy went to see VH With Hagar in concert and he said they were f*cking fantastic

Since then, no new album. Nothing really in the news about Van Halen. I've seen some pretty grotesque pictures of Eddie on the internet, with his hair a mess and teeth falling out ( Looks kinda like Chris Merloni in Harold&Kumar!)
and I've no fucking clue what is going on with these guys

Are they officially done? Are they working on an album? With who? What the f*ck is happening??????

Thanks

Didn't Eddie Van Halen have throat cancer or something? I thought I'd heard something along those lines and they removed it or it its in remission.

I thought Van Halen was supposed to do a new album with Hagar after they toured their "Best of Both Worlds" greatest hits with him. But I see Hagar has a new solo cd out recently.

Heard on the raido rumours of Van Halen touring with both Hagar & Roth, which seems extremely unlikely due to the bad blood between Roth & Van Halen.
life is the study of dyin'
and how to do it right

  • I am pretty positive Eddie is in remission now... the last I heard about the band reuniting, etc was awhile ago... I think they are on an indefinate hiatus...

who was the blond woman who ruined van halen?
  • Last i heard Sammy is touring with Michael Anthony also has a new solo disc out. Dave had that bluesgrass disc and Eddie is doing music for a porno. Dave also was talking up a reunion in fact i think everyone in the band is for it but Eddie.

All of this kinda blows actually. I don't love VH, but I definitely like a lot of their songs, and EVH is such an influence on so many musicians, I'd like to see him/them back in action very soon.

they got back together with hagar to put together the second greatest hits album, and hagar quit soon after probably because eddie van halen is a fucking impossible prick.seems like nobody can work with the arrogant van halen asshole brothers.what are they like almost 60 now??the band is a mess and is over.i fucking loved van halen and eddie ruined it when he got rid of david lee roth the first time around.fuck eddie, and fuck van halen now as far as i'm concerned!!

Gary Cherone. He's like anthrax, but not in the kickass "Indians" or "I'm The Man" way. He's like anthrax in the "I'm going to annihilate your band and evaporate your fan base" way.

There were a couple of tunes on that album that I thought were ok. Booting Hagar in the first place was suicide. It took people a long time to accept HIM, let alone a 3rd singer.

Like someone said above, Eddie is scoring a porno flick. my how the mighty have fallen....
I never got a chance to see them with Roth because they broke up when I was eleven. That being said, I enjoyed the Cherone tour beause I got to see Eddie and the boys wail away on a lot of the old rockers that Sam refused to play. The vocals were irrelevant, as the crowd did most of the singing anyway. Fire in the Hole was a great track off of VHIII, but yeah, Cherone did not fit.
I have seen Roth solo 6 times, Hagar solo once, VH with Hagar 7 times, VH with Cherone once, but I live to see the day when VH and Roth tour again. A pipe dream at this point, but I hold out hope anyway. I really thought that in 2003 they would have been inducted to the R&R HoF, and then they would HAVE to play at the induction, but for some reason they have never even been nominated.

There are continued rumblings of a VH tour with both Roth and Hagar.

Micheal Anthony is playing with Sammy these days. The VH bros have shafted him, including making him work the last tour for well below his normal percentage. He is not happy with Edward and Alex and has made that point publicly.
Roth has said his reunion with VH is "inevitable" several times, includinmg regularly on his failed radio show.

Were any kind of tour to happen, there would be one limo and dressing room for each member...meet onstage, play, go your separate ways. Disfunbction at its finest.
But money talks..Van Halen will tour again...possibly in 2007. Dave, Sammy or both? That remains to be seen.

I think they will tour again, but I hope not with Sammy. I saw them twice in 2004 and for me, that was as good as a farewell to Sam with VH tour as I will ever need.
