Jimmy's back on board too. I would see them without D'arcy and James because next to PJ, guess where they rank? :)

I saw Zwan live once and it sucked. Pumpkins are a whole different story tho.

Yeah Zwan gets the award for worst show I have ever been to. But the Pumpkins man I hope they get back together. To answer your question yes I would go see them without James and D'arcy
    Shows:
    San Diego 2003
    Grand Rapids 2004
    Grand Rapids 2006
    Detroit 2006
    Columbus 2010

Nope. I never saw them live back when they were the real Smashing Pumpkins but I listened to quite a few boots. Sometimes they sounded good and sometimes they sounded god-awful. This time around Billy is just freaking out because his post SP career has been utter rubbish. Let James back into the fold and then I'd consider it.

  • You better believe it, I can't wait till the finally get the Pumpkins off the ground and running!

The Pumpkins/Corgan are hands down my favorite artist (some people might say I'm obsessed... to each their own), anyhow they are currently recording in Chicago; their website is back up (http://www.thesmashingpumpkins.com); they are signed to Warner Bros; and they are rumoured to be having Melissa Auf de Mar as their bassist (I love D'arcy, but she is nowhere near as good as Melissa); and Eric Avery from Janes Addiction on the other guitar!

As for Zwan, what you don't realize is that a majority of Zwan's best stuff WAS NOT put on the album, Billy didn't want it to sound just like the Pumpkins (I've heard some of their first shows, you would have the stuff was straight off of Gish/Siamese Dream it was excellent).... but since it once again is the Pumpkins, well... as Billy put it himself after he finished his final solo show in North America (here in Seattle), 'The next time I'm here it'll be with the Pumpkins... and it's gonna FUCKING RAWK!!!!'

The man is egotistical; he's a dictator; but he knows what he's doing!

I'd go see them if they had at least Billy, Jim, and James. As much as i love D'arcy, their last year as a band showed she was replaceable. But I'd prefer D'arcy over anybody else

Seems as if you have the wrong website. That one is for sale. Did you mean: http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/ ?

I don't know about the Zwan shows you guys saw but the one I saw rocked. And honestly if it were called Smashing Pumpkins I'd probably see Billy Corgan play with KISS.

Hell yeah I'm there!!! As long as Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin are together the Smashing Pumpkins will be alright. Hell, Corgan recorded a lot of the songs totally on his own or had Jimmy playing the drums while he played all the other instruments and sang!!!

Lol, the Smashing Pumpkins should be renamed "This IS Spinal Tap"

Yess!! With Billy and Jimmy on board is enough for me. I'd love to see James and D'arcy or Melissa back though.

i've seen them once without D'arcy before. on the 2000 tour with Melissa Auf der Maur.. god she's beautiful.. I had a chance to meet her a year or so ago when she played a show in town.

yes, I'd see them in a second without D'arcy or James.. I think they'd be much more into it as a "reunited" or "semi-reunited" tour than they were on the "farewell" tour

I don't think I'd follow them around like Pearl Jam, but I think I would go there just to have a good time and relive some of the great music of the early 90's! :D:):D:)

The rumor is that Eric Avery from Jane's Addiction will be playing bass for them. He's a much better bassist than Darcy or Auf Der Maur. His bass lines on the early Jane's albums are incredible - simple, but so powerful. I bet he'll rock the shit out of grooves like I Am One and Bury Me. I just hope Corgan can reign his ego in enough to let Eric help in the writing of the new album, because the combination of Avery and Corgan could be amazing.

    I love Mellissa.

She's prettier, sings WAY better, and isn't a bitch and a crack whore. :p

Pumpkins are one of the best bands in history. The world needs them back.

no, i think people just assumed he's playing bass because he's a bass player.

what he said was he'd be playing with the pumpkins.. didn't say bass or guitar..

and we know mellissa is rumored to be the bass player.

    *shrugs*

i'd rather have mellissa, just because she feels right, but they're both cool.
