  • Can you PM and tell me what the new songs are like? I can't wait for the new record to come out. They're one of my favourite bands.
    "I am a doughnut." (live - Berlin, Germany - 11/03/96)

"Behave like rock stars - not like the President." (live - Noblesville, IN - 8/17/98)

    --Ed

"Yeah, I was gonna learn to play it (Breath) but somebody slipped me a bottle of viagra and was busy doing something else six times last night" (live - New York, NY - 9/10/98)

    --Ed

  • Will do.

  • Cheers mate. Their second record is so interesting, such a different record to their first. They were meant to be making a record with Ben Kweller which I guess never happened, that would have been interesting.

    Have a good show!

  • I have seen them like 4 or 5 times and each one rocked my face off. Everytime they just ripped right through their set! Hardly taking a break. I hope you enjoy it!

THey are awesome live. They take their songs and give them a new energy live. I can't wait for the next album!
    ITS MY BLOOOOOOODDDDDD!!!!!!!!!
  • Taking a poll here real quick as to which song i should record as video on my digital camera (only have enough memory for one song) and post on youtube and share here. I should be able to get real close to the stage.

    Let me know.

Why do you think only 500? I'm going too if my friend comes through with the tix this evening. It appears to be sold out, but I saw Talib Kweli @ the Sunset Pavillion and there was room for plenty more than 500. was worried that SA would draw a lame crowd (we're more of an AC/DC-SOAD town). Warmin up for the ACL, hopefully they BRING IT!!!

It was just a guess based on this article:

King of Leon look to conquer Alamo City
Web Posted: 09/07/2006 05:22 PM CDT
    San Antonio Express-News

In Texas to play the Austin City Limits Festival next weekend, Nashville's critically acclaimed Kings of Leon swing by San Antonio on Thursday for a concert at Sunset Station, 1174 E. Commerce St.

The band of brothers with cousin Matthew Followill may hail from Music City, but their sound is old-school garage rock with a Southern accent.

Their two albums, "Aha Shake Heartbreak" (2005) and "Youth and Young Manhood" (2003), are essential listening. The Stills and the Offbeats will open the show, a private affair but with 300 public tickets available, only a few of which remained at press time Thursday.

Showtime is 7 p.m. The band plays another semiprivate gig Sept. 15 at Emo's in Austin and hits the ACL Fest stage at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16.

Here's a breakdown of the Kings of Leon show.

The band: Three brothers — Caleb (guitar), Nathan (drums) and Jared Followill (bass) — plus their cousin, Matthew (guitar).

Their story: It’s so good, it sounds like a publicist made it up. Insulated from rock music in their youth (their father was an itinerant evangelist preacher), the three brothers from Nashville dove into the music in their late teens after Dad left the church. “When we were shopping a deal, when they (record labels) heard the story, you could see mouths water,” Nathan Followill told the Dallas Morning News last year.

The records: Two full-length albums, “Youth and Young Manhood” (2003) and “Aha Shake Heartbreak” (2005). The band debuted on the 2003 EP, “Holy Roller Novocaine,” which included four tunes that made it onto “Manhood,” plus “Wicker Chair,” which didn’t. A new limited-edition live EP, “Day Old Belgian Blues,” taken from a 2004 concert, is available via http://www.thinkindie.com.

The sound: “Southern rock” is the label that usually pops up, but that makes them sound like Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their enthusiasm, attitude and slurred vocals sound like all the young dudes who suddenly decided they had to form bands in the post-British Invasion ‘60s. In other words, think garage rock.

The show: 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at Sunset Station. It’s a mostly private affair, with 300 public tickets being sold. Only a few remained as of Thursday. They’re $15 at Ticketmaster outlets.

For openers: The Stills and the Offbeats.

Tour notes: After Thursday’s show, the Kings head to Austin to play Emo’s on Sept. 15 (another invitation-only gig, with limited public tickets available) and then the Austin City Limits Festival in Zilker Park at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16. It’s their second ACL Fest appearance; they made an impression in 2003 in support of their debut album.

Coming up: Dates with Bob Dylan in October and Pearl Jam in November, while working on their third album in spare moments.

Interesting. I wonder what's going on there? I need to call my guy and make sure he sets the duckets aside for me.

California waiting, or where nobody knows :)
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.
  • I saw them live last week in St. Louis - with The Stills opening. Kings Of Leon were great!!! It was my first time seeing them live, and they did rip thru their set list. They sang 4-5 new songs which I loved, but since they don't say much during their sets, I don't think they told us the names of the songs. Anyways, I was very impressed with their live show. The crowd was really into it as well.

The Stills, not so much. Throughout their set, you coudln't hear either of the guitars. And the crowd was not into it at all. That was quite dissapointing. Talk about a band that isn't living up to their potential.

Anyway, enjoy the show, and any song you can record will rock!!!
  • they rock, give us a full report, I can't wait for the new album :)
  • I saw them live back in 2004 in the Rock In Rio! they were in the same day as the Foo Fighters.

they rocked hard although few people knew them! they really put a hell of a show with great power! they turned the crowd their way eventually which was great :)
we'll share our bodies in disdain for the system
  • yeah, i've seen them twice now... i'd recommend them to anybody... great band with crackin' tunes
die on a hilltop.. eyeing the crows,
waiting for your lids to close..
but you want to watch as they peck your flesh..
Ironic that they go for the eyes first

Checking in. Great show. Not quite the energy I had heard about (no jumping around, etc); however, the band was very tight and sounded really good. I am proud of my hometown crowd, too. Veeerrrry receptive. Good night (morning headache aside) all in all. Not really impressed with The Stills, but they weren't bad. I'm tryin to figure out why these dudes were all sportin long sleeves. It was ninety degrees for God's sakes!!! Even the local opener was all covered up. Rockstars.
This show made me kick myself again for missing the ACL fest this weekend. Boo.

  • Really enjoyed the show as well...made the drive up from Laredo worth it. The band sounded great live, and I really enjoyed a few of their new songs. The new album should be great, and I hope the can gain some more popularity because they are an excellent band.

I couldnt get the video of a song I had hoped for; security was tighter than a virgin on prom night and they would not let any cameras in. Got a small video on my Treo, but the sound quality is horrible.
