    I'm a big power-pop fan and I'm pretty disappointed with what I've heard of Big Star. I don't like any songs on the first album. It's like Badfinger at their worst. The second album has 4 or 5 really good songs. I haven't given the third one a thorough listen yet.

    They're one of the most inflential bands of the past 30 years.

    All of a sudden I started seeing references to Big Star all over the place about two years ago - never heard of them previously. They certainly seem to have been influential if not exactly well known. They're on my long list of bands to check out eventually. I've enjoyed the few songs I've heard so far.
