i dunno, theres just something about the tracks that dont link that much with infinity land in my opinion, but thats not a bad thing.

it just sounds more commercially orientated music. and im not meaning that in the usual way that people use that phrase, it isn't a criticism

e.g. who's got a match isn't really typical biffy, its a lot lighter and more commerically viable. still an awesome tune!

I love Who's Got A Match.....its got that great 80s style bouncing bass line :)

I agree, Infinity land isn't them at their best. they say they tried to marry a pop element to their sound and I don't think it really worked.

I think there are a lot more similarities with the new stuff an dthe stuff on Blackened Sky, which was a very grunge influenced record. Semi-mental definitely comes from the same school :)

I love Who's Got A Match, and I agree that it isn't typical Biffy, but I don't really think it's that commercial.

The "old" Biffy are definitely still there though. Just listen to Living Is A Problem, The Conversation Is, Sem-Mental and Get Fucked Stud.

I'm really liking Puzzle though. It's no Vertigo Of Bliss...but not many things are! :D

Well, I finally got my hands on Puzzle and just coming to the end my second listen to it in it's entirity.

I'm not really sure what i think of it yet. At times it's brilliant, the first 3 songs are great but then it goes somewhere else that i never thought Biffy would go and that is into the realms of restraint. In fact it goes so far in this direction at times that there are moments I'd expect to find on a Busted record or summat.

I just keep waiting for them to let go in some of the songs, like come on, let it out, like they do on Vertigo and Blackened Sky but on Puzzle it rarely comes.

It's a good album but it's not the Biffy that I know and love.

Glad you're finally going to get to see them dave! :)

I'm just doing the Cardiff show as most of the tour takes place when I'm in the states.

Did you get a ticket in the presale then? They were really late putting the tickets on....just like everything to do with that webiste, it was a bit of joke!

Yeah I did. Bit annoyed as I had to se ticketmaster, which I never use. Fees are ridiculous...and they will only deliver to the billing address. I DON'T LIVE AT MY BILLING ADDRESS! And by the time of delivery...we'll probably have moved anyway! Stupid ticketmaster.

Rant over. :D Oh and I just bought Puzzle...paid an extra 3 quid for a "bonus track" and some random dvd I won't watch.

I see where you are coming from and I understand. It's their first major label album, and they are getting real exposure, and i'm still not sure how I feel about that. But I have to say, I like Puzzle a lot more than Infinity Land, though the latter does have some quality tracks.

I'm a very loyal music fan. If I grow to love a band, it will take a lot to put me off them. If this was the first Biffy album I heard, I would not like them as much as I do now, but being as i'm already hooked...I like it. :)

I haven't given it enough of a chance I don't think. I'm sure i'll sit down and listen to it one day and be like...WOW...how have I been looking this over for so long (like PJ and Binaural).

I absolutely ADORE Glitter And Trauma though.

Infinity Land is a very awkward record iMHO.

It has some amazing moments.....Kids FRom Kibble and Jaggy Snake are two of the best things Biffy have ever done. But at times it really doesn't work and loses its way really badly.....songs like Got Wrong, The Atrocity and the awfulness that is Wave Upon Wave should have been left off the record.

The new album has grown on me already but like Duggro said, its very reminiscent of The Colour & Shape in its style.
