What are some of your favorite "chick-fronted" bands? Sorry, if this isn't PC to some of you but I think that's the common term for it.

Some of mine are -

Liz Phair (not exactly a band but close enough)
Rockfords
The Aurora Beckons
Clear Blue Betty

I know I've got more, probalby have to dig through my 'Zen Touch' for them.

Here's your chance to turn us all on to something, or someone, new...

Liz Phair is great.......(I own all of her albums)
    Sleater-Kinney is even better IMHO
Heart really rocked in the 1970s and 80s
I really dug the last two Hole albums ("Live Through This" & "Celebrity Skin")
    Big fan of Kate Bush
    Enjoy Tori Amos

i never could really get into chick singers. i guess some heart, janis joplin, and the occasional fleetwood mac is all i can really stand. i'm not sure if female singers don't appeal to me, or just that the music is shitty.

I almost mentioned some Stevie Nicks led Fleetwood Mac stuff.......Stevie had the voice and the looks before the coke got to her.

Fleetwood Mac is the only one who has ever intrigued me. I dunno why, but I generally hate bands with female lead singers.

  • Ani Difranco- not really a band but one of the best female singers and guitarists out there.
  • All of the aren't bands, but just a general list of female artists I quite enjoy listening to:

    Neko Case
    Sleater-Kinney
    Dusty Springfield
    Loretta Lynn

an all female band that i really enjoy is antigone rising. powerful vocals and the music is great.

as far as female singers, i dig ani a bit, starting to get into evenescence (sp?), but my favorite band fronted by a woman is the cowboy junkies. margot's voice is angelic, simply beautiful.
