Any love for Metallica's St. Anger?? Well at least it's better than all that Fall Out Boy and Emo sxxt!

I actually like the sound of the album, but the songs are nothing spectacular.

What are you some pissed mallcore emo who knows a little about early Metallica. I'll have you know that I own every single album from "Kill Em' All"(which you've probably never even heard of) to "St. Anger". I'm not saying that "St. Anger" is their best album, simply that I'd take "Frantic" or "Some Kind of Monster" over "Dance Dance" or "I Write Sins Not Tragedies"!
<a href=http://www.topcomments.com><img src=http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r114/tcbm7/img/other/44.gif title="MySpace Comments" border=0></a><br><left><a href='http://www.topcomments.com'><font size="2">MySpace Comments</font></a></left>
Let's talk.
About why there are about seven hundred albums better than St Anger, and thats a conservative estimate. There hasn't been a worthwhile Metallica album since they ran out of Mustaine's riffs to rip off.
In any case, there is absolutely no need for you to attack me personally. I probably listen to more heavy metal in a week than you do in a year. While I respect the influence early Metallica exerted (and I even like Master of Puppets and some of the songs of the other albums!), I do not give a rat's ass about them now. I should have told a younger me this and I wouldn't have bought St. Anger.
echoes, does that mean you own St. Anger? Ouch.
WAR + MAGIC BEANS = PEACE
yeah, day it came out, too. Its buried in one of my drawers, it doesn't go up the CD rack with the rest of my albums
Uhh what the fk, MUSTAINE USED TO BE A METALLICA MEMBER!!
And I listen to Opeth, Iced Earth, Tool, Venom, Slayer, Cryptopsy, non-Midian Cradle of Filth, Hellig Usvart(you dont know who that is do you?),In Flames,Iron Maiden, Megadeth,Anthrax,Napalm Death,Helmet and many many others. Don't you even go there about more metal than me, okay?
<a href=http://www.topcomments.com><img src=http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r114/tcbm7/img/other/44.gif title="MySpace Comments" border=0></a><br><left><a href='http://www.topcomments.com'><font size="2">MySpace Comments</font></a></left>
did you really just say that?....and mean it?
What do you mean, they were the first Christian black-metal band, their name means Holy Unblack. Is it that strange to you?
<a href=http://www.topcomments.com><img src=http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r114/tcbm7/img/other/44.gif title="MySpace Comments" border=0></a><br><left><a href='http://www.topcomments.com'><font size="2">MySpace Comments</font></a></left>
i'm talking about the "i'm cooler than you because i know this band and you dont statement"
He did the same in saying that he listens to more heavy-metal in a week than I do in a year. I'm just attempting to prove him wrong. Not really a "i'm cooler than you because i know this band and you dont statement" when put in perspective that I started this thread because I like an album that was absoluteley hated by most fans!
<a href=http://www.topcomments.com><img src=http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r114/tcbm7/img/other/44.gif title="MySpace Comments" border=0></a><br><left><a href='http://www.topcomments.com'><font size="2">MySpace Comments</font></a></left>
Yeah, and when Mustaine left, they just used his riffs for a good 4 albums then ran dry.
in any case, Cradle of Filth and Napalm Death suck (even if I agree with them in principle, I just don't like them very much so far), Tool is hardly metal, Venom is shitty black metal, and In Flames wishes they were At the Gates and Anthrax wishes they were Megadeth/Slayer.
Opeth and Cryptopsy are good, though, Blackwater Park and None So Vile are two of my favourite metal albums ever. I listen to NSV pretty much every 3 or 4 days. Maiden's classic, but I dont really listen to much that isn't on Powerslave, Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind or is the title track on Fear Of The Dark. The rest isn't that special to me. Iced Earth is good enough but I stopped listening to power metal a while back. Jon is a fucking killer guitar player, though. Demons And Wizards (his side project with Hansi of Blind Guardian) was kind of a letdown, but that might have been a result of shifting tastes on my part, since it was all pretty tight).
We really don't need to play the "list a million metal bands" game but hey I guess we can if you want to. It doesn't prove a single thing (since I can just as easily name bands you haven't heard of and vice versa) - at least not in the "making my argument more valid" argument.
Try me name some bands I've never heard of.

Before you two start beating your chest about all the metal you dig, you may wanna call Kenny from " Don't tell Mom the Babysitter's dead" and get his input!

DCGARDEN, are you a TOOL fan by any chance?
<a href=http://www.topcomments.com><img src=http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r114/tcbm7/img/other/44.gif title="MySpace Comments" border=0></a><br><left><a href='http://www.topcomments.com'><font size="2">MySpace Comments</font></a></left>
Ulver
Tyr
Ensiferum
1349
Deathspell Omega
Apse
Bossk
Botch
Off Minor
Summoning
Urukhai
Nile
Rotting Carcass
I mean Ulver's pretty big (in BM circles anyways), and some of those bands are almost hardcore, but its a fine line. In any case, I fail to see your point here.
But do you know who "Hellig Usvart" is from my previous post?? Or Selputra, Amorphis, Entombed, Emperor, or Dimmu Borgir??
<a href=http://www.topcomments.com><img src=http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r114/tcbm7/img/other/44.gif title="MySpace Comments" border=0></a><br><left><a href='http://www.topcomments.com'><font size="2">MySpace Comments</font></a></left>
(besides, even casual metal fans know who sepultura are)
(I listened to IX Equilibrium today, one of the tops there is)
(Dimmu Borgir fucking blows)
(I haven't listened to Entombed or amorphis, but I am aware of their existence, like bands like the Black Keys, Black Dice, or My Morning Jacket)
(and no I haven't heard of that band you said but there are about a thousand black metal bands I haven't heard of)
Edit: Better put a wink in here.
Yes

edit: but back on topic, i thought st. anger was metallica's worst album by far....but having said that it had a lot of potential but the songs were too long and monotonous (long songs are great as long as its not the same boring riff for 8 or 9 minutes)....and i dont even need to say anything about the drum sound...
Wanna make sure I'm reading you right- did you just refer to Lars Ulrich as a shitty drummer?
Untill their will grows tired
I aint into metal anymore, but if he said that then I really pity this guy.
there you are.
- brain of c
I suppose shitty isn't the the proper word, but "competent" is propbably a lot more accurate. He isn't Brad-Wilke bad but when it comes to drumming he is very standard... ESPECIALLY as a metal drummer.
it almost seems to me that if they'd had rick rubin last time around st. anger could have been so much more. i'm anxious to see what they come up with working with him. i don't think bob rock did a good job at all on st. anger, although i still do like some tunes. like you said, jsp, it had potential...could have been much better.
and for anyone who hasn't seen lars do his magic live...it is a sight to behold! fantastic in concert. he leaves it all on the stage. just my opinion.
