Wow, what an album and most definitely one of their best! Sweden has made so many contributions to the metal community! And people who think that they hate death-metal should try Opeth and some bands that play the Gothenberg sound. Any feedback on the album or my suggestion for DM haters?

P.S. : Why is it that a LOT of people I know love BM but hate DM and TM?

if you think they hate DM/TM, wait until you see them talk about power metal.

Opeth is a great starting band. You think they are hard as fuck when you first start listening to them, but nowadays they are practically easy listening.

Deliverance is probably my favourite Opeth album...with Morningrise a close second.

I love Opeth! But as echoes said, they are more laid back compared to some of todays music. Opeth is a band I like to get relaxed too. People hate on power metal, but some of those bands can fucking play! See Dragonforce.

Emperor by a mile. I mean Death is really cool and chuck is a legend (and Scream Bloody Gore is a very good album) but IX Equilibrium is up there as one my favourite metal albums. It is crazy good. So is In The Nightside Eclipse, and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk

i reckon opeth's best album is still life, its an easy pick for me.
a tie second for both blackwater park and ghost reveries
    with damnation third.

..STILL LIFE!!! I always forget about that one (even though I own it) and I have to agree, I think it is my fav Opeth especially the second track, man I love that song... "...searching my way through perplexion" then the guitar after.. fuckin classic!!

I love Opeth to death, Great music in every which way and always varying the playing field. Incredible with what they do. Yet another band that comes from the area and scene that i dearly love is In Flames. They've evolved in many ways over the course of their career, and they just pack such an impeccable energy. I saw them two days in a row this past weekend and they absolutely blew me away. I'd say if you like Opeth, to at least give them a chance.

I say if you like in flames you should at least listen to At The Gates, who wrote all the same songs years before
