Do me a favour and describe some metal genres

Give me a metal genre and then provide a definition for it. Or by all means, provide a few. :)

    I'd settle for someone explaining the difference between "death metal" and "black metal". Never had that one properly explained to me.

    Death metal is generally extremely technical in terms of riffs and is typified by low, growling vocals and blast beat drum rhythms. Black metal has high pitched, shrieking vocals, repetitive riffs, occasional keyboards and is generally less reliant on technique and more reliant on atmosphere.
