MSG tickets: ticketmaster vs live nation

Is there any difference between trying to get tickets from ticketmaster or live nation? Are they owned by the same company? Do they have access to the same tickets?

I feel like I have had better results with live nation recently but it
may just be the luck of the draw.

Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

    I would try livenation, but that's only because it was much easier getting good STP tickets off livenation today than ticketmaster.
    you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.

    In the past there's been no difference, Live Nation just linked you to the TM system. But now Live Nation is venturing off with its own ticketing system and apparently will cut TM out altogether next year from Live Nation venues. From what I've heard, some better seats for shows have shown on the Live Nation site, so I'd try that.

    Live Nation has been a hotlink to TM for anything I've tried off there.

    I had good luck with Live Nation for Van Halen tickets and
    the Velvet Revolver/AIC show so I guess I will try them again
    for PJ.

    will the buttfuck fees be the same?
