Had tried flock of seagulls and sweet before but they didnt work.

Talk Talk is the answer to another clue. Also tried 'The Gossip' but that was incorrect too.
Im totally lost on the last 20 or so clues.

Sugar is/was a great band back in the '90s....lead singer was Bob Mould (Husker Du). They had a couple minor hits on college radio off the album Copper Blue (songs: Changes, Helpless, If I Can't Change Your Mind). They were the loudest band I have ever seen live.
