I agree. I know they get bashed a lot, but I still love them.

I heard Gavin is working on a solo album now.

I saw Bush twice. AMAZING live act.
Saw them in 96 for the Sixteen stone tour with No doubt and Goo Goo Dolls opening. Great show. 14 songs sounded like alot back then LOL! HUGE pit on the floor and tons of crowd surfing. My first time to see crowd surfers and moshing at a show. We had balcony seats, but that floor was hopping.

Saw them on the Razorblade suitcase tour in 97 with Verucca Salt opening.
The entire lawn tried to start a pit, and surprisingly security was able to to condemn that. Someone up front threw a shoe during "glycerine" and nailed Gavin in the face. He threatened to leave, and that was the only shitty part. Hearing the crowd sing "swallowed" louder than the band was amazing. I don't recall them doing any covers at either show.
Sadly I lost intrest in them after "deconstructed" and their technoesque phase.
Hopefully they will reform, since institute went nowhere. I know a record company that owns their back catalog and last I heard was a dvd released called ZENX4 or something like that.

If Bush were fakers, they did a good job of selling the goods. I think for the first year and a half Gavin thought he WAS Eddie Vedder. Don't get me wrong they had a few decent songs and couple that stand the test of time. But I don't think we will be hearing them on classic rock stations within the next 20 years. All in all they were decent at best, but i def wouldn't get fired up over a comeback.

That's interesting - I only remember the Kurt Cobain comparisons.

Bush was my favorite band back in middle school, though the were overtaken by Pearl Jam about a year later. I have to admit that as a 13/14 year old girl Gavin's looks were nearly as important as the music. The good news is that Bush led me to music that I now consider to have at least slightly more substance. I still think their sound was decent, but the guy wrote some terrible lyrics!
  • I saw them loads of times back in the day. I used to love them, definitely one of the best live bands I've ever seen. But around the third record Gavin started to do acoustic mid-sets, which was just awful lol.

  • I'm not keen. too streamlined. Then again, I never saw them live, Rossdale's messiah complex seemed a lil irritating.

You mean George Walker Bush and George H. W. Bush and Jeb Bush? What a setlist they'd put together.
And I'm not living this life without you, I'm selfish and clear
And you're not leaving here without me, I don't wanna be without

  • they were my first favorite band as well. i got to see them on the razorblade suitcase tour and the science of things tour. both times they were great. they weren't big on mixing up setlists or improvising or anything, but their shows were energetic and fun. i loved nigel's guitarwork... it was sloppy and just sounded great with gavin's vocals. i got the cd from his other band, institute, and it was OK, but it was just too clean-cut for me. i would love for them to get back together... all 4 of their cds are great IMO.

I totally loved Machinehead. that was my pump up song in high school. other than that, i never liked them much

Machinehead is one of the best songs in the 90's. The song has been in the playlist of rock stations until now and that's what you call a great effect. But unfortunately, if they were to re-unite, they wouldn't go too far. They are just living their past.

they were my first ever concert. the openers were the goo goo dolls (who were unknown except for their recent, new hit "name") and no doubt (who were known by nobody in the crowd). it was a great show. bush were really a good live act.
  • Gavin leaves it all out on the stage when he performs. When I saw them years back he needed oxygen mid-show he was rocking so hard. I liked the Science of Things & Golden State although the latter flew under the radar for the most part

If they just played Sixteen Stone from beginning to end I would go see them. I think the other albums were sub-standard at best. I so much wanted to like their later stuff, but it just wasn't that good. What a dropoff from their first to second album.

Letting the Cables Sleep is real good too. I saw them live, and they were not bad at all.

  • His last band sounded an awful lot like Bush. They even played some of their songs when I saw them open for U2.

Didn't they get dropped by their record label?

yeah, I think Trauma/ Interscope did drop them after "Golden state." Kirtland records out of Dallas Texas (they have another office in Los Angeles, CA) now owns their back catalog I belive. If they were to reform and record again, Kirtland would probably distribute the album. Kirtland is an indie label, but it's kind of weird cause some of their artists are promoted nationally and some appear to just be locals in Texas.
John Kirtland was the drummer for the band deep blue something with their only number one top 40 smash hit "Breakfast at Tiffanys.

    i love bush.:)
  • They had some really good songs...Gavin can't write lyrics to save his life, but somehow the songs still managed to kick some ass. I don't think they need a comeback, lol, but their 1st two albums were pretty damn good. I saw them in 96' I think it was, they did a great version of REM's "The One I Love." May have to give those CD's a spin. :)
