  • For those who have never heard Jerry Garcia at his height, here is a Grateful Dead show that at least I enjoy:

Grateful DeadGrateful Dead Live at Robert F. Kennedy Stadium on 1973-06-10

Over 30 years ago and it is still incredible.

Here is another more upbeat show:
Grateful Dead Live at Hollywood Palladium on 1971-08-06

These are known shows, sorry I am to tired to dig to much deeper.

I've just been getting into the dead, and have begun to get the Dick's Picks stuff as i'm more into their live stuff, especially the Keith era.

    Great, great stuff.

Can't say I am huge fan, I do have a double live that was officially released (I think it was anyway) and they do a KILLER version of Dylan's Senor.

In fact I think Garcia was a fantastic interpreter of Dylan's songs.

Believe it or not, Elvis Presley's drummer(Ron Tutt) was a key player in the mid 70's version of the Jerry Garcia Band.

This reminds me of one of the best shows I've ever seen. JGB at the Wiltern in LA in '88. Opening act was Bob Weir with Rob Wasserman (Acoustic). Great, small theater. Got 3rd row seats, closest I ever got to Jerry, and much more intimate than the big arenas the dead were playing at (not to mention the JGB having to play the larger arenas/ampitheaters near the end). Jerry was very relaxed, and having a great time. Dear Prudence and Tangled Up in Blue in particular were killers.

Set I: Cats Under The Stars, Forever Young, Someday Baby, Mississippi Moon, Dear Prudence, And It Stoned Me, How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You
Set II: The Harder They Come, Waiting For A Miracle, Evangeline, Don't Let Go, My Sisters And Brothers, That Lucky Old Sun, Tangled Up In Blue
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.
