I'd like to know if you dig it.

But like they said themselves in a song:

    don’t misunderstand me
it’s not for all to know.

Anyway some new Psychonauts worldwide would be great.

Tough question. I think Trust us, Al though I like the springtime album Timothy's monster as well. Then again the dark Angels and deamons is really good. So is Blissard and the new Black hole/blank canvas.

But the best I think I'd have to go with Trust us. The Hey Jane single that is on this site will give you a nice idea of the sound of the album.

    Discography motorpsycho

Lobotomizer (Really shitty in my book, this was before the drummer joined)

    Soothe (????)

    3 Songs For Rut (?????)

Demon Box (Good effort has a few classics, Plan #1 is the best song on here, first album with drummer Gebhardt)

Mountain EP (I don't like this one all that much)

Another Ugly EP (Not my pick up till now)

Timothy's Monster (The first one that is really brilliant, Springtime album)

Tussler (Weird country shit, soundtrack for a flim that was never made)

Wearing Yr Smell EP (Never heard it)

Blissard (Another masterpiece, major step forward even if "Timothy" rules)

The Nerve Tatoo EP (Never heard it)

Manmower EP (Only on vinyl, never heard it)

    Mot Riving (Haven't heard it)

Angels And Daemons At Play (Dark and haunted, yet another masterpiece)

Starmelt E.P. (Has one of my favourite songs Flick of the wrist)

Ozone E.P. (Has another one of my favourite songs, The skies are full of ....wine?)

Trust Us (The best and complet album made by them

Hey Jane E.P. (Sheer beaty has also got The balled of Pet & Put)

Roadworks vol. 1 (Really good live record)

The Other Fool E.P. (Nice extra's)

Let Them Eat Cake (Good enough for Motorpsycho, Out of reach for most bands)

Walking with J. E.P. (mwa, not really)

Roadworks vol. 2 (Really good live concert at a jazz festival, tripping)

Barracuda (Back to the sixties, Ride Dr. Hoffman's bicycle is superb)

Phanerothyme (Good songs all of them, I was hoping for something different though, good enough, has no weak moments)

It's A Love Cult (Has one or two weaker songs, overall better than the one before, bacause it came closer to what I had hoped for)

    Serpintine E.P. (Good extra's)

In the fishtank (Motorpsycho & Jagga jazzist, very good, recorded in one day)

The International Tussler society (No not really for what the album is concered, cool DVD though)

Black hole/Blank canvas (Really good I've been waiting for this one since 1998 release of Trust us, this is brilliant once more, new drummer)

In The Fishtank was part of a series of collaborations that were recorded in a day. There are at least 10 of them out there, probably way more

Hey I'm really interested in hearing these guys, but I've got 2 problems.

Problem 1-Every time I click on one of the links on the page from your first link, karma defect, my browser just "encounters a problem" and closes.

Problem 2-I dont have working speakers on my computer right now (long story) so it doesnt really matter anyway.

So, I have 2 questions now.

Question 1 - If I were to buy only one of their albums, keeping in mind that I have not heard a cingle note of their music, which one should I try to get that will best represent and introduce me to their music?

Question 2 - I havent looked very hard, but so far I havent seen any CDs by these guys in the stores I've checked. Would you suggest I just buy them off the internet, or look harder? The only reason I'm asking this is I dont like getting music off the internet. I was just wondering if they are very popular in the states and if theres a chance of music stores ever stocking their music here.

Edit: Did I seriously spell single wrong?!?! Damn.

Well I always prefer buying album’s in the shop. However it does depend on where you live. In Europe especially the countries the are loved in they should be easy enough to find. Just go to a quality store. Over here there are stores that don't have them, the more mainstream ones wouldn't sell it.

If you aren't from Europe than go to http://www.stickman-records.de/ That is basically their own label.

    What album should you pick?

    Timothy's monster

If you like raw recordings then Timothy's monster would be nice as a summer album. Mind you it is only their second album and a bit shaky in the recording sence, but the fans love it to pieces.

    Angels and daemons at play

If you like dark and sometimes even scary music than Angels and daemons would be the way to go. This one is recorded very well and is their album number four album.

    Blissard

This album is hyper active. I have very good memory's with this one. This is their third. again the recording is good.

    Trust us

I think this would be your best bet. It is recorded very loud. It will give you a good insight into what they are capable of. Because the can do it all. Melody based, Long guitar riff based songs, Psychedelic weirdness, Fat rock songs and experimental shit.

    Black hole/ Blank canvas

This is their latest album and is the best in years. They are just a twosome on this album because the drummer left. They did one song with the new guy. Although it isn't certain if he will stay. Good songs all around. a lot of difference on this album. They basically combine before and after Trust us.

I think Trust us is your safest bet. In case you are able to download I copied this from the Motorpycho forum. It will only be there for a week so be quick if you want it. This is the same gig as on the site I put on.

    I hope you like it.

Timmy and Trust us are my favourites though.

    Timmy is the summertime high.

Trust us shows all they can do.

However I still remember the first time I heard Stalemate, Goosebumbs all over man. The hair in the back of my neck stood straight up as if I just walked past a ghost. That song is on Angels. It also has the 13.50 minutes long Un chien d'espace. That gives me imiges of wolves in a deep dark forest chasing me at the heel.
Walking on the water has sucha fat bassline that it seems you have to use a knife to cut through. In the family is really good as well.
And of course there are the wicked Sideway spiral 1 and 2.

Will you buy it in the shop?

Hey sorry I took a little longer than 24 hours, but I've been really busy, etc. etc.

Ok, so lets get to business. I really dont know what to say, I mean this was too much to handle all at once. They are so fucking talented I cant even pretend to describe exactly how I feel about them. Positively mindblowing, for example right now I'm listening to "Shakin' All Over" with its earth-shattering riff, but if I want to I can go right to "All is Loneliness" to get a completely different experience, that song put me into a trance when I heard it. I was completely captivated, plus how cool is it when they use inward singing and everything in a live set? Holy shit. These guys have it all. "The Other Fool" was when I realized what a fucking sweet rhythm section they have, absolutely solid. I should've realized that sooner, but still it just hit me how massively talented every single musician playing on this recording is. Dont even get me started on the keyboards either. I swear to god I havent heard the keys played as effectively they are in this recording, especially in a live setting plus he can really sing too. And of course, the guitarist is so good I cant really say anything to do him justice. I really shouldnt even be writing about Motorpsycho at all, considering what a lame asshole I am in comparison.

There wasnt a song I didnt like in the whole set, there is no way for me to choose some over the others, but I especially enjoyed: "The Slow Phaseout", "Go to California", "All is Loneliness", "The Other Fool", "Watersound", "Sideway Spiral", aw hell I cant list 'em all right now but seriously I loved it. I am definitely making one of their albums my next purchase.

Ok, there you have it. A rambling, incoherent mess showcasing my ability to sound like a retard while trying to describe Motorsycho: Live at Tillburg 2001.

Oh yeah and I heard you yell out "flick of the wrist". Pretty sweet: Karma Defect live in Tillburg 2001 :D

Good to hear you really liked them.

You are right there about the guitarist, "Snah" is awesome. It is fun to watch him live, he is very concentrated. Especially during the longer more trippy songs, he just spaces away.
The Keyboard guy isn't really in Motorpsycho only quit often he joins up for a tour.
The rhythm section, ah yes that is a bit of a painful subject. You see that really cool guy who have been with Motorpsycho for so long(not from the start) and is a kick ass drummer, is no longer with the band. He had a side project for a long time and now he wants to spend all his time on that. Too bad really Hakon Gebhardt is truly amazing and a good guy all around.
However they only just recently released their now album the first without him and that is just as good or even better than the last three albums. The two remaining members just did everything on their own, taking on a Dutch drummer for the tour.
Now we have only Bent Sæther left to say something nice about. He writes most of the 2/3 of the songs and plays Bass and guitar. He actually plays guitar on his bass more than it is real bass playing in the way it is done most off the time.

This band is my absolute favourite, they combine their weird musical sense with songs that really get to you and that is something that is hard to achieve.
I'm glade the singing didn't throw you off, it is usually the biggest problem for people if they at all can stand the music. They don't really have a rich and powerful voice like Eddie fore instance, but hey they over so much in return.

Cool to hear you'll be picking up an album, I'm quit curious to see which one you'll choose. Have fun.

I checked every damn store I could get to, and none of them have heard of or stock anything by Motorpsycho, so I went with your suggestion and ordered Trust Us off Stickman. I'm excited. And too bad the keyboardist isnt a band member, I really loved his playing. Oh well....
