  • critically it would be sea change, it famously received 5 stars from rolling stone, whatever that means.

my personal fav is guero and guerolito. midnight vultures is awesome too. the thing with beck is his style changes from album to album, there is something for everyone. with all artists, it depends on your own taste of what you like, but with beck its even more so because of all the genre hopping he does. download em all and pick!

    Midnite Vultures... for sure!

I like all of Beck's albums, but this one is the best. Really funky electronic music.

Sea Change is also great... completely different from Midnite Vultures.

  • I really love sea change, and I don't usually go for albums that are mellow all the way through.
  • i like odelay and guero. . .some of his albums are just too soft and country for me, but these two i dig

His best? I personally think that Guero, Midnite Vultures, Odelay, and Mutations are all equal at the top.. each for different reasons. Then comes (in order) Mellow Gold, The Information, Sea Change, and One Foot in the Grave.
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

Sea Change is his best, and in my opinion, there isn't a close second. But that's coming from someone who enjoys Beck much more when he's doing the mellow, acoustic guitar thing.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Although Beck usually doesn't stick to a specific musical genre..i'd say Odelay is the best cd if we talk about the more funky-electric-rock side of him. I really enjoyed The Information as well, being very close to the first selection i made, but if i had to chose only one i'd pick Sea Change and its mellow side..great album in my opinion, and very different from anything Beck had released. By the way i'd recommend you guys to look for a b-side from this cd, its called Ship In A Bottle.
